Vaginal Repair of Prolapse

Aymd · 19/03/2019 05:40

I've been offered a surgical vaginal repair; 7 years post birth and I've got both cystocele and rectocele prolapses. I'm curious about the op and what other experiences there are, particularly long term - I'm 43, and interested in how my muscles and tissue might be after the menopause and longer term.

There doesn't seem to be much information on the Internet, and my consultant can't tell me much either just that 20% of women go on to have further later prolapse complications.

Help! Any thoughts?

I'd say your consultant needs to answer your questions, or, you need to ask to see a different consultant.

As a surgeon, I would never operate on anybody I wasn't confident had understood everything I said, and I certainly wouldnt do an operation if I couldnt answer all of my patients questions.

Likewise - never, ever undergo surgery if you have any doubts or questions about what you are about to have done - always seek clarification or a second opinion.
