TMI Alert - painful bowel movements after birth

My dd is now 22 months old. Ever since giving birth I have had such a nightmare with bowel movements. At first it was so painful to go for poo I used to scream the house down. When I went to the doctors they said I had anal fissures. Since then I took movicol which really worked and I could finally go to the toilet without screaming.

I'm now pregnant again and it's started to happen again. No where near as bad as when I first had my dd but still can be painful. I know this is caused by constipation but I have no idea if it's fissures or piles. Part of me thinks the consultant had stitched me too tight and that's why I can't physically pass hard stools without pain.

Has anyone else experienced this and did it ever sort itself out without surgery?

That sounds truly awful. I'd go back to the GP and keep going until it's sorted.

Can I ask what you take for the constipation?

Congratulations on the PG too Thanks

Fybogel twice a day helped me

I swear by anusol suppositories

Thanks for the replies. Currently back on movicol and it's worked wonders! Going to keep taking it until baby arrives.
