Shortness of breath

Hi everyone,
This is my first post as I'm looking for a little advice before I bother my GP.

DD will be 16 weeks next week and I am still experiencing shortness of breath when not really exerting myself. For example, once up and down the stairs, fine. Repeat the journey (forgot DD's socks again!) and I'm short of breath. Similarly, bending down (eg unpacking shopping) and standing straight repeatedly is also a trigger. It isn't accompanied by any pain or dizziness, just heavier feeling breathing.

I don't have a history of respiratory or pulmonary issues/distress and I've only ever had slight shortness of breath late on in pregnancy when bump got much bigger.

My questions to you are: is this usual for 16 weeks postpartum or should my breathing have 'normalised' as soon as baby was born? Has anyone else experienced this at a similar length of time postpartum? Should I book an appointment to see my GP and get oxygen levels etc checked?

Having never experienced these symptoms before, I'm unsure as to the appropriate course of action!

TIA

I can't really help as I'm only 4 weeks pp but I'm experiencing similar at the mo. It's more when I'm lying down it feels like my breath catches a bit.

At 16 weeks I think you really ought to see a GP and take it from there. Shortness of breath after labour can be a sign of something serious. You're probably fine but best to just go checked out and put your mind at rest x

Have you both had your iron levels checked? I lost quite a bit of blood with DC1 and remember feeling really short of breath (and really freaked out!) until the iron tablets kicked in.
