How to reduce breastmilk without pain?

After having to pump whilst in hospital with my first baby who is now three weeks old I find that now we are back to breastfeeding I am producing far too much milk. I know in a way it's a great thing but also having to pump before going out and after she's eaten because otherwise my breasts are still full is a pain. Also I now have a freezer full of milk!
How do I reduce the amount I am producing without risking it stopping completely and avoiding mastitis?

The more you pump, the more you'll make! After baby has fed you can gently hand express some milk in the shower/sink, to take the pressure off. Your body should get the message within a couple of days!

Thank you! I get so obsessive about them not being full as it feels so strange, not even painful just odd! But I guess if I ride that out for a few days it will be worth it.
