Period pains 1 month pp

I'm a FTM to a gorgeous little baby girl who is 4 1/2 weeks old. For the last day or so I've had really bad period type pains but no bleeding. Lochia seems to have slowed right down and is more like a discharge now (sorry tmi) and I had an episiotomy which seems to be healing really well. Are these period type pains normal for 1 month PP? When will my periods return? I'm FF her and can only find info on BF. Thank you!

Congratulations on your DD!! I was 14 weeks PP before my periods returned and I EFF. I did have period style pains before then, but they were fairly light and nothing compared to the period pains I got before getting pregnant.

Congratulations! I am 12 weeks pp with my 2nd and my periods retuned the month after having my ds so it could be your body preparing for it? Since having my ds my period pains are a lot worse and last about a week before I actually get my period. And my period is heavier but shorter. Never happened with my first so was a bit of a shock. Paracetamol helps! (And sleep/rest though hard to find with little one)

Again, congratulations!

I was 6 weeks PP when my period returned (I too FF)

Maybe you're ovulating?

Oh the joys Smile

@kiabella thank you! Oh god.. yep, that sounds like it. I'm dreading this first period! These pains are horrible. I want to curl up with a hot water bottle but clearly that's impossible with a new baby ha ha!! Grin

@Annalogy thank you! Possibly? I'm planning on going on the mini pill after my 6 week check up so I was hoping I wouldn't get a period until then Grin
