When did your periods return? Ebf

I know anything goes really, so just wanted a quick poll of your experiences. I feed my 6 month old regularly- probably every 3h during day but can be 5-6h at night.

The reason I ask is that we would love another baby down the line (not getting any younger and this one took a while to conceive) and I suddenly had a vision of not being able to wean for ages/not being able to conceive.

Thanks! Just a light hearted q....

DD1, 7 weeks but she was mix fed.
DS, absolutely nothing until 11 months.
DD2 is 6m and I’ve just had my first proper period but I was spotting and having cramps and PMT from under 3m 😡
So even within the same woman it can vary! Not sure if the size of the babies had anything to do with it (DS 11lb14, DD2 6lb9 so must be drinking less) but maybe it’s just hormonal changes as there are 8 years between them.

Don’t worry anyway, tandem nursing is really common and they say don’t rely on EBF as contraception, so no reason to think it won’t happen Thanks

While still bf and not cutting down and without taking anything to try to bring them back, they came back just shy of 2 years.

HoneyDragon · 27/04/2018 13:21

Four weeks, both mine were ebf until 2.5 and 3.

RickyGold · 27/04/2018 13:22

4 weeks to the day after ds was born, so unimpressed, carried on BF for over 3 years

christinarossetti · 27/04/2018 13:27

Just under 6 months with both of them. Before weaning, definitely not sleeping through the night.

MissWilmottsGhost · 27/04/2018 13:35

5 months.

DD wasn't weaned until 6 months, didnt sleep through until 11 months and was bf for a year.

I thought I would be free of them for a year at least. Gutted Sad

Squishandasquash · 27/04/2018 13:43

8 months with both of them and they were still having 3/4 feeds a day and 2 feeds at night at this stage. However, I had long (40-45 day) cycles until I stopped completely when they returned to 30ish days. Got pregnant with DC2 on our first attempt when DC1 was 14 months, 2 months after stopping breastfeeding completely

ethelfleda · 30/04/2018 00:16

I bf ds on demand (still do) he had no dummy and fed all night and mine came back after 4months. I wasn't impressed.

Glitterbaby17 · 30/04/2018 00:28

9 months here - was a bit gutted!

Choccywoccyhooha · 30/04/2018 00:42

At 16 months, whilst I was still feeding a couple of times a day and several times at night.

HappyLollipop · 30/04/2018 01:04

3 months after giving birth! I'm still ebf my 9mo.

moimichme · 12/05/2018 16:35

I think mine came back (a very light, 2-day one) almost 2 years exactly from my last period before I got pregnant (so he was almost 15 months old). I'm still breastfeeding a few times a day / overnight, probably on average 5-6 times in 24 hours.

GreggsSausageRolls · 14/05/2018 22:12

Mine came back within a month and both were EBF. I have endo so felt really short changed with that one!

DrWhy · 14/05/2018 22:14

6 weeks, just as the lochia stopped - I was not impressed! DS was ebf.

Muse84 · 15/05/2018 09:06

I can't believe how different everyone is!

Trying not to worry about the idea of them not coming back for years, did not even cross my mind when planning my future family!!

I miss them a bit Hmm I went for 5 years without one due to the Mirena coil, so this isn't novel for me. Plus feel in a permanent state of mild pmt.... At least with periods I got that wonderful week afterwards where I felt great!

All have been at 7-9 month’s post partum. All were ebf. Weaned at about 6 months. Two were still feeding at night one wasn’t but they still came back about the same time. First period was dreadful...

LorelaiVictoriaGilmore · 15/05/2018 10:29

Ds was ebf on demand (all night long), no dummy and my period came back after 6 weeks! Angry

Dd is now 14 weeks and no period yet...

I now wonder if my period came back so quickly with ds because he was premature and maybe not having that much milk as he was so small.

timeistight · 15/05/2018 17:58

4 weeks. Bang on. Both times. sigh
