How long for periods to settle after baby?

DS is 7 months old. I had my first period at 9 weeks PP. Cycles are approx 35 days on average which is the same before having a baby. I should be due in about 2.5 weeks but AF has apparently decided to show up earlier. Thought it was ovulation spotting but been having light brown blood and bad cramps since yesterday.

This has only happened once but my second or third cycle.

Stopped breastfeeding at two months PP and not on any BC (use condoms). Definitely no chance of a pregnancy.

When do periods generally settle after having a baby?

I breastfed long term so only got my period back after a year...it came back as regular as clockwork....

I think a year is a good benchmark physically for all aspects of post pregnancy..
