Oral thrush in baby and nipple thrush for me

My baby has oral thrush and I have nipple thrush. For the past month we have been following the GP's advice and giving baby Nystatin whilst I use Daktarin cream on my nipples after every feed, changing breast pads when doing so.

It has now been a month and although things have improved for both of us the thrush remains. The GP advised to continue our current treatment which we are doing.

Just wondering if anyone has any advice on clearing up oral and nipple thrush.

I fed my baby as little as possible when we got thrush - I mean BF obviously! We still fed him a bottle!
I expressed some milk to ease the engorgement, and treated my nipples probably more frequently than it says on the tube.

Ooh it's not fun though is it, that burny nipple feeling. I hope you can get rid soon.

I think I took 36 hours off BFing him, to attempt to stop the cycle.

I stopped breastfeeding and pumped for 24 hours.
I had one dose of fluconazole and it got rid of it.
Fluconazole is also given to prem babies so a bit of it is fine.
The gp was too nervous so I bought it over the counter.
La Letche league advised me.

It is interesting about the expressing as the GP advised me to not only not express but to throw away any expressed milk.

Good to hear some possible approaches. Thank you.

I expressed through it as well. It was so painful at the time - as if I was feeding a piranha.

I did chuck expressed milk while I took the fluconazole though
Ibuprofen got rid of the pain
