Breast feeding and antibiotics

Hi, i had my baby girl 2 weeks ago and for the last few days I've had mega tooth ache! I've seen my dentist and he's prescribed me Metronidazole 200mg to get rid of the infection! I'm breastfeeding my baby and the pharmacist has told me that significant amounts of this medicine is found in the milk and the manufactures advise to avoid large single doses ... he said 200mg is a small dose so my baby will be fine! He said take 2 a day rather than 3 so less will be in the milk and she may experience tummy ache and loose stools.

Has anyone got any advise or taken this Med whilst breast feeding?

Long time since I bf. You could check with mw or gp for reassurance but pharmacists are really good on knowing their stuff with meds. Ime better than gp's!

Plus I'm thinking abs better than whatever infection in your tooth is in your bloodstream and could pass to a very young baby.

Bf babies tend to have loose stool anyway so as long as you use nappies good for that and change frequently should be fine.

But as I say was a long time ago for me.
