Massive painful haemorrhoid 1 day post birth

Gave birth yesterday. Had episiotomy and a few tears. But it's a haemarrhoid that's driving me crazy. I can't sit down or lie on my back or stand up. It's making life with a new born really difficult as I just can't move around easily.

Any advice on what to do?

Feels like there's a coconut up there!!!! Argh!!!

Oh God you have my sympathies. I didn't realise until I had DC2 with no piles that the massive pain I was in after DC1 was actually the haemorrhoid & not the episiotomy... Diclofenac, lactulose, a valley cushion (hired from NCT). Good luck.

Paracetamol suppositories on prescription were what helped for me with the pain until the haemorrhoid creams started working. Go see your GP emergency appointment in the morning. Until then apply frozen peas or an ice pack wrapped in a tea towel to the anus for up to 20 mins several times a day. Also good to apply ice after a warm bath (I put some salts in mine to help, unfraganced). The action of warm then cold helps shrink the piles. A donut ring/rubber ring to sit on is also good.

My sympathies, piles post birth are excruciating.

Thank you, I shall definitely phone the GP in the morning. Everything would be so much easier if it wasn't for this!
