OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Spink · 25/05/2009 22:31

ds just woke up crying, I went in and he was having the biggest nosebleed - pillow and face covered in blood, it gave me a huge fright til I realised what was going on. He said 'naughty mowgi mummy' (mowgi being bogey in his world) which has brought me out in preg-style tears..
Blimey. A nosebleed and I'm all over the place. think it is time to go to bed x

PatTheHammer · 25/05/2009 22:34

Dreading leaving them both (sob!). DD was 4.5 mths when I went back first time, but I was so much more into my job then. I couldn't really care less now and in the last 2 years I've been leaving earlier and earlier. School finishes at 3.05 and I was out of the door by 3.20!
I know its a great child-friendly job with the holidays and all but, like you, I do 4 days a week (well 3.5) and feel I don't have any time to socialise at work as I really have to prioritise to avoid taking stuff home. As a consequence I feel quite 'left out of the loop'. Also DS going to nursery in sept and we used a CM for DD so its all unfamiliar territory for me, what if he hates it??????

I know it feels strange but I feel so much more of a mum now with two of them, I kinda feel as if its my job IYSWIM. Sounds very 1950's . I also mix with lots of SAHM and feel quiet envious that they can go where they want/do what they please in the week and things have not got to fit round work.

Sigh.......anyway, rant over. Perhaps DH will win the lottery soon or get a mega promotion before september.

PatTheHammer · 25/05/2009 22:43

Aaarrgghh, nosebleeds! DD used to have loads of them when younger. Really frightening going in and seeing them covered in blood. Hope he's ok Spink!

MissJ sounds like a fab day! I know what you mean about old friends . Oh, I loved that inevitable reaction from the HM, but I would also have sooooooo done that if it were me 'great, I wanted to go anyway..........hate the lot of you '. I didn't actually watch it for the first time last year, don't quite know why, so I don't have a clue who won or anything. I was however watching Celeb BB this year when I started having fairly strong contractions. It finished at 10pm and Zach was born at 11.45pm, obviously trip to hospital in between. God, it starts again next week.......I must resist

EachPeachPearMum · 25/05/2009 23:06

boo hiss for all those who have to go back to work soon... mat leave goes too quickly

A much better day today... dd has been angelic- goodness knows what was wrong yesterday?

DS however has been in a world of pain with wind (I think, huh- coud be anything, lets face it!) lots of howling, would only sleep in my arms this afternoon, yet went to bed okay, and has slept all evening without whimper... go figure.

hongkongzoe · 26/05/2009 08:00

Lenni Thanks for that link to the other thread...very reassuring...even had a tear in my eye reading some of the comments (What has happened to me? Am an emotional wreck since DCs...anything makes me cry!) Good luck with the application form...

Spink PaT Know how you feel aboout work/SAHM. I really enjoy my job at the moment, but also know I will never get this time with DCs again and am really torn between the two. DP is, effectively a SAHD as he works from home in evening and weekends, but he's going to have to go back to full time soon as we are skint. Hopefully I will do 4 days from September, which will be good. It's funny, when I'm at work I don't miss or think about the Dcs particularly, I guess I know they are with their Dad and am so busy normally I don't have time. I also quite like being able to walk out the house and feel more 'myself'/have time to myself. I love being a mum, but enjoy time out from it too. DD starts nursery in Sept and she's ready for so am sure she will love it, am very reluctant to leave DS if he's not with his Dad though, a friend has offered to look after him if DP finds more work, so that might be the solution. maternity leave has flown by, only onemonth left... sorry for this ramble, my mind is sleep deprived!

Chef If its any consolation I am also inthe same boat with the sleeping, DS still wakes for a feed at 11pm, 3a.m and then is up at 5.30/6a.m....arghhhhh! Agree with your advice about the birthmark...I think lo's can decide when they are older. DD is a happy, confident little girl and am sure she will make a decision if the birthmark ever become a problem. Lots f marks disappear by school age anyway. DD was offered laser surgery, but the risks of repeated general anesthetics just didn't seem woth it to me, especially as this type of mark fade naturally over time! Hope those hounds quieten down.

spink Nosebleed sounds scary, how sweet that it caused by a naughty boogey!

miss j your day sonds fab, nothing like a spot of sunshine and good company.

eppm Hope your windy baby is feeling better today. Hooray for an angelic DD! Lily was uncharacteristically low maintenance yesterday too!

Well it is pissing down here and DP is out right refusing to go camping on the grounds of his hangover that both dcs have bad colds... hmm I'm not gonna argue. There is no playgroup this week, its raing and its half term....any ideas of what to do much appreciated!

PatTheHammer · 26/05/2009 08:28

On rainy days my dd likes: pottery painting cafe/soft-play/swimming/library/plaing at friends house/museum/Slimbridge bird sancturary/family-time session at sure-start.

Hope there are some ideas for you! Weather meant to be nice thur/fri so I have a few days out planned then.

Good luck!

Oooh dog that does sound knackering. Tea and cake at your parents sounds good though. Are they back on track these days? Hope so x

eppm sorry to hear about windy baby - did he have a good night in the end?

pat I am going to watch launch night, which will be strange for me as it's always very exciting to work on, but then pretty sure I won't keep up - too late for me! But am going to visit everyone at the studios next week which will be fun. Will try to get some photos of Nye at the house.

Lenni found your thread - very encouraging for someone like me that is thinking about having another one soon(ish). You know what's really putting me off is the thought of being pregnant again. First time around you are treated like a queen, and can rest loads, get massages etc - but next time around I will be struggling to pick up Nye (it's already killing my back!), waddling around after a crawling baby, unable to bend over to change nappies etc! If only someone could just hand me the next baby (pref at 3 months old!) on a pillow....

spink nosebleed sounds scary! What a sweet comment though, bless him.

re birthmarks etc - I was thinking the other day how heartbreaking it must be as a parent knowing that your child is going to be teased, and that's what must influence a lot of parents to get these kind of things removed. But everyone gets teased for something, don't they? For me, it was being very skinny as a teenager, while all the other girls were developing lovely hourglass figures.

Off to Hay today. Made the mistake of dream-feeding LO at midnight as we went to bed, thinking it was worth trying out to see if he would sleep a bit longer than usual - but after his dream feed he was awake 20 mins later! But really great night, he only fed again at 4am and then slept till 7.30am so was hardly awake. And I finished my book! Crap book, but felt good to actually finish something for the first time since he was born.

Hope everyone has a good day, rain or shine x

hongkongzoe · 26/05/2009 11:03

Pat Thanks for ideas...really love th eidea of pottery but have done an internet search and can't find one round here. Can't fa e soft play...so its down to City farm or Museum of Childhood...the sun has just come out! Yay!

MissJ Enjoy Hay, glad you got a good night.

Dog Knock back a few cups of espresso and have fun at your Mum's...I like the idea of cake...mmmm

PatTheHammer · 26/05/2009 14:05

Eeeeeeek a tooth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Double Eeeeekkk, slept through till 5am in cot till first time, then happily snoozed till 8am this morning.

Treble Eeeeeeeek, had quite a lot of hair cut off! Liked it at the hairdressers, now worried it's too short!

Thats all from me

PatTheHammer · 26/05/2009 14:25

Oh, and yay to Nye in the diary room chair............you know you want to!!!!

hongkongzoe · 26/05/2009 14:57

Anybody with any ebay experience?? Have a look at my thread and give me some advice... ebay dilemma

hongkongzoe · 26/05/2009 15:29

Ohh, today is a slow day again. Ended up going to the city farm in MudChute, which was very good, had a breezy wander around.
Got Jude a play ring thing off ebay, but it arrived with a puncture which is annoying. The woman claims it was fine when she sent it, so there's not much I can do....aprt from get out the puncture repair kit!
Both children are asleep right now...it is beautifully quiet...

Sorry, not me this time dog! Have a fab time though and don't forget Washbrooks farm, comes highly recommended by Ray and I!

HKZ Soory about annoyng ebay thing, I havn't bought anything off there for years though so I don't have any useful advice. My two slept together for about an hour this afternoon, bliss..........

Ok, still not used to haircut, have warned DH its very short. Only people seen it so far are FIL and Friend who said it was very nice.........we'll see

missjackson · 26/05/2009 18:17

Yey for all that sleeping pat, and haircut sounds good. You are brave! I always have long & boring zzzzz hair.

hkz and pat great that you got a moment with both kids asleep! That must be quite an achievement.

Nye has started to shout! Really loudly, and it's not like he's upset, but he sounds sort of annoyed at something - I think he's just exciting himself at how loud he can be, but we all have to literally shout over him to make ourselves heard! He's also puked up twice and hasn't shown much interest in food today. Not a happy bunny.

juleswastink · 26/05/2009 18:24

Just popping in after busy dizzy weekend - will be back soon.

x to all.

LenniEd · 26/05/2009 21:10

Tree - was just thinking of you and wondering where you were. Also been thinking on Stripey - anyone seen her? I can't remember when I last read a post from her, if you are out there Stripey hope everything is okay.

MissJ Am very excited about potential Nye in BB house pictures! I have only watched a couple of the series but if I watch them I get sucked in so I try to avoid them! Have never watched the celebrity one really but the year I was pregnant with DD was the Pete/Nikki one and I must confess to having been hooked - hormones obviously I even watched the live feed whilst vacuuming! I also watched the series with the bottle incident

Poor little Nye - hope he is better soon. And that he doesn't decide to catch up overnight

Thanks for your message EPPM - might have a few things to ask you if that's okay? Will email when get chance.

hkz PITA about ebay - think I'd be inclined to repair it even though it is a pain. Or maybe tell the seller you'll try to repair it and if it doesn't work you'll return it for a full refund. Not fair that you should have to pay P&P.

Glad other thread was useful for others with/considering two. I'm looking forward to all this love and companionship people keep telling me about. Sounds wonderful.

treedelivery · 26/05/2009 21:49

Hi LenniEd and all. So Lenni - had interview? Or interview on it's way?

DH had one for PCSO police thingie. Oh that would be so good if her got it - he's out of house 6am till 6 pm and it's killing us all it's so crap. For pants pay and a mahooosive fuel bill. Pants

Had visitors this weekend, with their 9 month old lovely, so have been away from computer. Very odd it was too!

Soooooo much to cath up on here......

Pat - Hurrah for a tooth. Hair will grow so enjoy it while it's short, that's what I say. Alot, as mine short too, after years of long locks.

I fairly come out in a rash at thought of going back to work . SO am hearing all those who are not loving the notion. Oh God. Lets not talk about it

Well, have a maga post already and only read Tue and Monday!!

sparkleandshine · 26/05/2009 22:06

hkz - I'd say that's life sometimes - repair it and forget about a refund. I think you get so many bargains on ebay sometimes you get a dud but still cheaper in the long run.

big brother - I loved the first two series, then went off it when they started putting nutters slightly dysfunctional people in...

sooooo tired.... falling asleep here. every time we nearly get to a nights sleep something happens!

have a very cross baby atm.... just wants to be off and boy do we know he's frustrated! he squeals and shrieks....

missj - sorry but second pregnancy is pants you are so caught up with Pfb that it flies by, no special treatment. I never even carried my own shopping pregnant with ds1, ds2 I carried shopping and ds1 . although having babies close together is painful at first (my friend has 13 months between her dd and ds) she's laughing now with a 2.5 and 3.5 year old both out of nappies whereas I've got another 2 years of nappies....BUT 3 years is MUCH easier to deal with at first.

treedelivery · 26/05/2009 22:39

Bleak news this eve, a mate of dh from where he worked [rememmber the whole redundancy awfullness from early Dec] was found hanging today. I don't really know how much the redunadancy and subsequent lack of work really contributed, and I won't assume. But oh my poor dh and that poor man and his family.

I feel like throwing fire eggs at parliament. Grrrrrrrr.
