Thought I'd start it. Am hopeless at remembering which day is better for everyone. How does Weds 8 April sound? Shout if another would be better.

Do we have a def venue?

LadyThompson · 06/04/2009 10:35

Errrr....there's the Orangery (on the Kensington Gardens side of the park) and that one by the Serp...other than that I dunno. Lal? I suppose it depends where in the park we are meeting and where people are coming from but I intend to go to Lancaster Gate and walk through.

lal07 · 06/04/2009 15:34

Sorry about this - and there was me being all bright and breezy. Am going that way tomorrow am - so going to check out which cafe is open and then post on here tomorrow. pmk thanks for checking the website

I know nothing about how to get around parks can someone post deirections once the definite site is decided on?! I'll be coiming from whichever tube is easiest from Kings Cross. Ta!

artichokes · 07/04/2009 09:33

Does anyone know if any of the stations near the park have lifts? I can't balance the buggy on an escalator but have a horrible feeling that's all there will be.

LadyThompson · 07/04/2009 11:04

Lancaster Gate has a lift, as does Queensway.

For all non-Londoners, they are to the North of the Park and are on the Central Line. Marble Arch, also on the Central Line, stops near the North East corner.

There is Hyde Park tube near Speakers Corner, but haven't a clue which line that is on as never used it.

If you are coming from Kings Cross/St Panc, I would say you could get a direct tube to Bayswater on the Circle or District lines. Bayswater is on a busyish shopping street called Queensway. Come out of the tube and turn right, walking to the top of the street, cross the road (the Bayswater Road) and there is the park!

Okay. Have checked it out a bit more. There's a map of the park here
The cafe I was thinking of re-opens next week (thanks again pmk) so instead I think we should go to the Lido cafe on the South side of the Serpentine. If it's a lovely day and not too busy we could always go into the lido bit - there's a children's pool and park to play on for older DCs. But could be horrid given it's the holidays...Shall we just meet at the cafe and see how we feel. There are chairs and tables outside. I'll be there a bit before 12:30 to try to bag us a big enough space.

Hyde Pk corner tube (on south east corner) is on the Piccadilly line if that helps JJ but there isn't a lift there so tricky with a buggy. But as LadyT says there are plenty of options.

Really looking forward to seeing you.

I am planning to come. I'll wander around aimlessly hoping to see a bunch of other mum-types!

lal07 · 07/04/2009 17:41

Mom I'll have a red phil and ted's buggy with me and have brown hair - you've got my number if you need it (further down thread)

Right, looks as if getting the Liv St train then onto the central line to Lancaster Gate will be the best. Thanks for the handy hints!

poisondwarf · 07/04/2009 18:46

Looking forward to it.

Couldn't open the map (but I always have trouble with pdfs on my PC for some reason) - here's another one in case anyone else is having trouble. There should be a red circle where we are meeting.

Mom there are pics of me and some of the other MNers on my profile.

waitinggirl · 07/04/2009 20:35

sorry, loves, won't be able to make it tomorrow. am so dog tired with this not sleeping that i think i've got to force myself to stay at home and be calm. enjoy!

artichokes · 07/04/2009 20:41

Barring catastrophe I will be there. Have worked out that there is a bus from my house to right near that cafe so am very pleased. Sorry that we will not see you WG, hope you sleep tonight.

EffiePerine · 07/04/2009 20:44

Should be there with both DSs in tow
