What does life with a 2-week-old look like for you?

I’ve fallen into the trap of doomscrolling on Instagram while nap trapped and looking at parenting accounts… I think I need a reality check- what is life actually like with a formula fed two week old?

From memory it was a blur of feeds, nappies, the occasional shower and counting it a good day if we were both dressed by 3pm.

My first child I was always pro active despite him being a very tricky baby , my second baby I chose to be nap trapped and watch box sets for the first 6 weeks . Its such a short amount of time so just enjoy some sofa time , skin to skin , biscuit eating and netflix .

2 weeks in, I was exhausted and weepy. Hadn't lost an ounce, C-section recovery going slow and MH not good.

Glad to know that what I’m seeing online isn’t the full story! I feel like my life is a whirlwind of washing and sterilising bottles!

^ this is my plan for baby #2 (during the day when DS is at school nursery, anyway!).

I started going to baby massage & baby groups at the local children's centre when DS was about 8 weeks old; before that it was mostly sofa-based, interspersed with slow dog walks & local cafes.

I remember one day that was a monumental win, because I’d both washed my hair and taken the bin out

I think i probably cried lots haha. I tried to do everything and be superwoman. I was sore from a c section and mentally not good. If I have another, I’d spend it on the sofa watching tv and drinking tea.

I keep seeing these families on Instagram where they do the newborn’s night time routine and the whole family tuck up in bed together at 9pm and the baby wakes 2-3 times between then and 7am, efficiently changing and feeding within 30 minutes each time… HOW?!?!?

My baby sleeps for 30 minutes maximum at a time and needs to be held there whole time! If I put her down she’ll be awake in 5 minutes and howling in 6! I am having the time of my life taking care of her and having her here, but my god it’s hard. I haven’t showered in three days. I want to take her out, but I need to shower before I can go in public.
