Hi all,

I wanted to take my baby out in a few days time but I have no ideaaaa how to dress him! He is 7 months old and the weather will be 17 degrees, would a Pramsuit be too warm or do I dress him in a cardigan and light coat?? Please help. I know I sound so silly right now but I'm so confused

Out where?

Presumably you go out and about anyway so I’m just trying to work out why you’re particularly concerned about it on this day? Is it because it’s getting warmer, or because you’re likely to be outdoors all day/ more than normal?

Will he be in the pram a lot of the time? Or will he be more active / be getting out crawling about on the grass or wherever you are? Do you use a baby carrier at all - you’d need less layers with those!

I think a pramsuit would possibly be a bit warm (thinking of those big puffy ones).

Best bet is to do layers - also go off whatever you’re wearing. If you’re comfortable in a t-shirt and light jacket chances are he will be too (although they do say one more layer for them so I’d start with a cotton vest/ bodysuit). Take a warmer coat/ pramsuit with you and keep it under the pram - a 7 month old will let you know if they’re too cold and you can add, but overheating is more dangerous.

Thank you so much! I forgot to mention, just out shopping. I left his Pramsuit at my mums house which I usually made him wear that'd why I was concerned like do I need to dress him in that even now since its warmer. I have a lovely cardigan which his Nana gave him it's a thick one and also a light jacket.

Thank you for explaining how to dress him. First time mum here so the anxiety is through the roof. And also just few days ago he developed croup so I guess that's put in a bigger fear in me.

A pram suit will be too hot. With the recent warmer weather I've been dressing my baby in a thin cardigan with a romper underneath. You could take a couple of thin blankets so you can add or remove layers if the temperature changes.
