Hi, please excuse me i am new at this. I am a first time mum to my 7 month old daughter and am feeling a bit isolated since i gave up work. Does anyone know of any mother and baby groups in my area? I live just outside maidstone in Kent and would love to get out and meet other mums but as i am new to the area i dont know where to start.

Ask your Health Visitor.

I lived in the Weald when my daughter was born and went to a lovely mother and baby group in Frittenden. Probably too far for you (and I don't know whether it still exists) but there was lots going on and the HVs were good.

Check out the Wealden Advertiser (google it) - there are lots of ads for baby/toddler activities in there.

Have you tried contacting your local NCT group, details here? They usually have a Bumps and Babies group and also hold open coffee mornings. Once you have got to know people there, they can recommend the best groups to join.

Thanks for that, it was really helpful

What part of Maidstone are you in?

eandh · 21/10/2007 15:22

i am in maidstone and used to go to mote park mother and toddler group on tuesdays think it was 10.15 to 12 stopped going at the mo as dd1 at preschool but am thinking of going again soon as dd2 is 9months and be nice to do something with her.

There are a few of us in Maidstone on here (eddas has dd who is 3 and ds who is 6months) and i think nab3, pinkranger and harman are nearby although not sure of their childrens ages.

We could always arrange a meet up maybe small softplay and bite to eat? although would have to be in few weeks as its half term this week and dh has actually booked the week off

That would be fantastic i live in Loose (although sadly not the posh part.) My dd is 7 months and i dont know anyone in the area. It would be great to meet up with some other mums.
