Any advice on how to get my baby to take a dummy?

My daughter is 5 weeks old and I'm trying to get her to take a dummy. I tried her with one in the first week but when she rejected it I decided just to wait a few weeks. Trying again now and she takes it but after a few minutes it pops out and she starts going frantic trying to find it. Any advice?

I'm currently trying to get my 5 week old to take a dummy too. The tapping thing works and also stroking her cheek like I do when I'm encouraging her to feed. She's getting a bit better with perseverance.

My DS is 12 weeks old and won't take a dummy, I've officially given up! Would have been so useful for his reflux and as others have rightly commented a reduction in the risk of SIDS. Lazy parenting I think not wanting the best for your child - always!
