How are the hospitals/ maternity wards?
I'm an expat overseas but thinking of returning to Uk for birth in August.

I gave birth in Jan at LGI and was more than happy with my experience. Staff really friendly and helpful throughout.

I was in St James (Jimmys!!) to have my dd 2 and a bit years ago, and had no problem with it either.

Thanks peggotty and vinorouge, I'm leaning towards Leeds as much cheaper flat rentals but I've been quite scared about the hospitals.
Did you both have 'normal' births? This is my dc2 and I really want to know I can get an epidural if I need it!

My SIL had 2 in Jimmys and one was an epidural, I think. I don't think she had any complaints.

I gave birth 6 weeks ago at LGI. Found mw to be v sarcastic and unhelpful. I think it mostly stemmed from her not really believing I was in labour (very quick first labour - less than 2.5 hours). Hospital was clean tho and epidural is available as long as you don't want to be in a home-from-home suite.
