Congratulations churros and cannot hope that your enjoying your lovely little babies!

I'm also up doing the night feed vikki and also craving sleep. Hoping DD will settle tonight... she just won't settle anywhere but with us.

Cannotbelieveit · 07/05/2014 12:05

Today I put makeup on whilst both boys napped!!

Last night was better, Ryder fed 12/4/8 and slept in between so I managed some sleep! Grin

Hi just noticed this thread can I join? My LO came into the world on 6th April.

Help Advice needed!(also posted elsewhere)

So LO is 4weeks old and has been sleeping longer through the night for the past 5 days each time increasing by half an hour, last night she had last feed at 10:30pm and woke for next feed at 5:30am, 7hours!!! Should I be waking her? She usually goes every 3-4hours during the day between feeds and takes 4oz so she has 24oz in 24hrs.

Also like to add that she was born on the 2nd percentile, at 5lb 1 and 4 days late, perfectly healthy tho and is now on the 9th percentile and has gained almost 2lb in a month!

Vikkijayne2507 · 09/05/2014 21:42

hi klou I wouldn't worry at 4 weeks old as long as baby is gaining weight plenty of dirty and wet nappies would be ok
I had baby James at 37 + 5 on 24 th March

LightTripper · 10/05/2014 00:59

Hello Klou! Hello all. Finally an update from me..

Baby Isla was born on Wednesday at a minute to 9pm, after first being induced at around lunchtime the previous day, and having my waters broken just before noon that day. She was 14 days overdue. Didn't have quite my "dream" birth, as when they ruptured my membranes there was meconium in the waters, so had to move from MLU to delivery suite. However, got to take the same lovely midwife with me, who helped me stay pretty mobile even through an epidural (and dural puncture, bit scary), and was generally fantastic throughout. Isla was seen by paediatricians as soon as she was born, but her oxygen levels came up fast and they seemed happy with her which was hugely reassuring.

Overall other than one v unpleasant internal exam early on (had to ask midwife about 5 times to stop before she did, leaving me a weeping mess) it was a really good experience, and much better than I was fearing. I would rather go through 2 days of labour again than 9 months of pregnancy. And of course the best bit is meeting our lovely girl at the end!

LT xx

Isla, 2 days old

juliec261 · 11/05/2014 22:20

Trinpy · 12/05/2014 13:19

Congratulations Light!!! welcome to the world Isla (love that name!).

Is that all the babies from the antenatal thread accounted for now?

Ds is 5 weeks old today and started smiling over the past week. Really cheeky grins too Grin

Vikkijayne2507 · 13/05/2014 11:12

hmm I have a grumpy baby although this morning he seemed excited by my singing and silly talking but he did then have a poo afterwards so probably just that. he has been watching me very closely for a couple of days so i think it shouldn't be too much longer I almost vsaw a smile the other day but im not convinced

Trinpy · 14/05/2014 17:07

I'm laughing at your description of your ds seeming excited but then doing a poo, vikki. it's so disappointing when they do that, isn't it? I'm sure he'll be grinning at you soon Smile .

I've got my mil visiting this week. She has basically kidnapped my baby, I just get him back for a quick bf every couple of hours. I'm starting to go out of my mind a little bit, I really miss him. I'm having to keep myself seperate from them before I snatch him back! And I'm having hormonal, over protective mummy guilt, convincing myself that he's thinking I've deserted him Sad . 3 more days until I get my baby back...

Vikkijayne2507 · 16/05/2014 05:26

hehe indeed trinpy at least he's practicing smiles evrn if poo accompanys them

Cannotbelieveit · 16/05/2014 15:10

All babies from the fb group accounted for so I think that's everyone! Grin

Vikkijayne2507 · 20/05/2014 00:42

A very quiet thread here. James has had 2 big poos making up for not pooing much last few days so thats good. Also weather tunred rubbish so am hoping his rash will do one as well.

8 weeks today

Trinpy · 21/05/2014 12:15

I think everyone must be busy with their newborns. Hope it picks up again soon, I love our little antenatal group! I think I'm going to have to get out there and meet some real life mums I can be friends with Shock .

Trinpy · 21/05/2014 12:19

Meant to say there was a thread on the feeding forum the other day about babies not pooing for a few days. My ds had the same thing (but is now making up for it with huge explodapoos) and that thread was v reassuring.

LightTripper · 21/05/2014 12:25

Hello Trinpy! I think a lot of people have migrated to the Facebook page now that babies are here and photos can be taken Grin.

All well here. OH went back to work yesterday, but my Mum and Dad came over, so this is my first day by myself. Mainly trying to catch up on sleep and do some thank you cards!!!

Isla is doing well. Got signed off by MW yesterday as she regained her birth weight, so that was all good!!

LT (Isla, 2 weeks old today!)

wendle70 · 21/05/2014 21:41

Hi ladies so sorry I have been silent on this..and massive congrats light, cannot and churros - I still can't believe one minute we were discussing morning sickness and the next our little ones are here. So should I join the FB group?
My little man is doing great - 5 weeks tomorrow. I am doing mixed feeding - breast morning and night and formula in the day (previously I was doing breast topped up with formula at every feed as he needed to put some birth weight back on) and seems to be going well - he's sleeping and eating pretty much to a 3/4 hour routine and only cries when being changed really. But every day's different...some days he wants more cuddles than others. I've had the luxury of a maternity nurse a few days here and there who has been great but to be honest I completely over egged how much I would need one right now...he's pretty good and I want to be the one changing the nappies and feeding! I went out today for 2 appointments and really missed my little man...who when the nurse is here seems to be swaddled and asleep all the time (apparently you are not supposed to stimulate them with activity like playmats etc till 6 weeks).

Found my local breastfeeding support group quite helpful. Swaddling great when I can get him to agree to be swaddled! He just has such a placid temperament but this may change I guess! Some babies in my local mums group have colic which sounds like a nightmare.

does anyone have any recommendations on sling brands? I bought a moby fabric one but v dubious..looks tricky to get them in and I think he'd be in danger of suffocating (there have been some stories in the press which have scared me)...the ergo is apparently v good but again not sure about the newborn insert which looks like a duvet and therefore v hot in summer weather..? when do you use them? need to check out my local sling library..

also anyone travelled on London public transport with their little one yet? can't work out how on earth you do that especially when your local stations have no escalators or lifts and there is no one around to help!

hope your little ones are all thriving - aren't we lucky? :)

wendle70 · 21/05/2014 21:44

ps Vicki Jayne - what kind of rash is it? My little one had a weird blotchy rash and dry skin on his face and washing with clean water then oilatum in the bath and certraben cream after has really helped in just 24 hours..

wendle70 · 21/05/2014 21:51

and finally KLou1105 I asked my maternity nurse about waking up for feeds as I also have a sleepyhead - she said wake up in day at regular hours (say 3 or 4 hours depending on your schedule) but don't wake at night after 4 weeks..but that is for a formula fed baby...I would think the same would apply for breastfed but not too sure...sorry that is probably not very helpful...I guess if you thought they had had a brilliant big breastfeed and you knew you were producing a lot of milk then you could let them sleep through at night but always best to wake in the day time so they can get enough milk - otherwise they will be restless and hungry at night. but then my one is loving a routine (he put himself on one from word go really). Plus ca change - I bet it all changes in a few days/weeks!

Vikkijayne2507 · 22/05/2014 04:07

hey wendle the rash went with cooler weather but he does have eczema which I got a paediatricians opinion on so got things to get it cleared up. We have the baba sling James loves it and will fall asleep.

at 8 weeks we've had our proper smiles I got a recording of him smiling in response to me and gurgling which was great. oh jealous as only does it with me but I think after last night of keeping me awake from 1.30 to 6.45 with first gas and then wide awake smiling baby he doesn't suffer exhaustion like me. He is wanting stimulating now and responds to his mobile has chats and stares intently at faces and objects more and more. Before 4 weeks he just slept and ate but now is becoming more baby less newborn and im extremely glad just gotta get rid of gas which is happening every night paediatrician said this will pass as he gets bigger and learns how to fart and poo easier. skill set of a baby lol.
He's 11lbs or 5 kg so breastfeeding works always with nipple shield but i don't care what nurses say that he's too used to them he's a bf baby without the shield he'd be formula fed which I personally didn't want.
I think you need to search for trisha jukes to join fb group im still on both

Trinpy · 22/05/2014 09:55

ah I don't have fb so can't join in.

wendle I have a hana stretchy wrap which are supposed to be one of the lightest but I still haven't got the hang of using it. I need to go along to a sling meet too really. Moby wraps are v safe as long as you get the positioning right.

Its nice to hear how all the babies are getting on. Ds weighed 12lb 4oz on Tuesday (6weeks old). He's almost as big as his cousin who is 4months Shock . Definitely dh's 'massive baby gene' working there.
