Boo!

All well here. Bea's reading is brilliant but her writing is awful. I think I would like a new job. Dh had a new job back in March and it's good but crazy busy. Dd2 owns snails now, dd1 is going in to year 10 (faints), holidays in Scotland from FRiday and need to go do bedtime story now.......

I have had a mad couple of weeks, dog had an (expensive!) op, pony also spent a night at the vets - pleased to say they are all on the mend.

Dc all ok Smile

Molly does lots of reading/drawing and writes some lovely stories - though with some very interesting spellings Grin

James is going to be starting Y11! and Harry also transferring to High school.

James is taking a girl to the cinema for the first time on Thursday! Shock

Hi all, long time no talk.

I was getting a bit anxious about Danny's reading but he's suddenly taken to asking me to read with him and I think he's really coming on.

At work, my boss became very ill in November 2011, briefly returned in March/April, then we learned that it was terminal in May. At the same time we had a restructure and I learned that I'm being made redundant on 1 June, along with another 3 secretaries, leaving them with 2 of existing 6 legal secs, and the head of law's PA, and the Chief Exec's PA. I am STILL serving out my notice (been here a long time and they're being infuriatingly slow). Brian died on 10 July Sad, and I still can't get used to him not being here clacking away on his braille typewriter.

I'm actually looking forward to my life after here, I have something already lined up to do working from home as C starts part time nursery at the end of September, and I'll probably spend a few weeks just resting and sorting stuff out at home, or working on my index if the work comes through in October, then I'll work out whether to try to freelance from home or sign up with agencies for legal secretarial temp work. Given our current childcare costs, I don't think we can be that much worse off, and the redundancy money is about 5 months gross, so 8 months' take home and if I don't have to pay so much childcare and fares from that....

We continued the tradition of a picnic in the park and us baking a cake at the last minute - Danny enjoys it and it works for us!

Hiya - just a quickie to say that I'm trying to have a bit of a Mumsnet break at the moment! I find that when I come here (to the site in general, NOT this thread) I get sucked into reading threads which either depress me, infuriate me or come accross as deeply concerning and it's better if I stay away at the moment. I know there are lots of great, supportive threads too, but I seem to get drawn to the wrong ones!

Anyway, hope everyone is having a good summer. I'm really enjoying seeing updates from those of you I have on Facebook (if I don't have you on my Facebook and you'd like to stay in touch that way, just send me a PM). We're having a lovely time although O has chickenpox at the moment.

Year 1 after the holidays - wow!

Have just booked a roller skating party this week for George and my April 2009 (Iris) baby is having a soft play party with 9 preschool friends because I got a fab deal on livingsocial. However I found out this morning that I'm having an op on April 2nd to have my prolapsed bladder and bowel repaired, so it'll be shop bought cakes and me barking orders at DH if I'm not fully back on my feet by then.

Happy 6th birthdays April babies Smile

I note in August last year I said I needed a new job. Still working on that.....

All fine here. Bea is delightful. Her reading is amazing (boasts) and her writing is much improved - she will now willingly pick up a pen and write stuff Grin More playmobil on the list for this birthday.........

I have NONE of you on facebook. I think this is because I wasn't on facebook when the babies were little and this thread had traffic Grin. Now I am though so if anybody would like to link up that way please PM me.
