My name is Mikael, I am a Student Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist. As part of my training it is essential for me to undertake mother and baby observations to provide me with a deeper understanding of the development of a new born baby, starting from as early after they are born as is possible. The aim is to understand their early journey through life, their coming to be in the world, their relationship to their mother and to the world.
I am seeking:
? soon-to-be mother?s with a due date in May or June, 2011 or a
? mother with a new born baby, around 2-3 weeks old or younger
Fathers are also more then welcome to participate. I am primarily seeking participants in London.
I currently work with Children in Need and have done so for around fours years here in London and also for some years back home in my native Sweden, supporting children and their families.
If you agree, I would observe your baby's interactions with you and the world, and the process of development once a week, for an hour, at your convenience, in your home. The observations are non-intruding and non-judgmental - simply observing your baby and noticing the subtle changes in how your baby is developing, growing and relating to the world around them.
Witnessing your baby's development and interactions will enable me to understand better the journey all of us take through the first year of life and the fundamentals of personality and behaviour as starting in very early life. Ultimately, it would help me become a fully qualified child therapist. Your agreeing to the observation process would also enable me in my present work with children in need and to further help troubled children and adolescents. You will also yourself hopefully feel empowered in your parenting by your participation.
If that sounds still like something you could think about participating in, I can provide you with a letter of reference from my training institution and other relevant documentations. We can also then meet in person to discuss it further, before you make any commitment. Let me know what you think, any questions you have via email or phone.
Kindly
