We're still coming!

Name: Jaxon
Birth Date; 4th August (on my date, 2 days after hospital's date)
Time: 3.10pm
Weight: 7lb 7oz
Where: Raigmore Hospital, Inverness
Experience: Woke at 1am, contractions 6 mins apart, waited till 4am when they got strong and went down to Hospital (we had gone to My Mum's the night before, she's 20 mins away, we're an hour and a half away) started useing TENS at 8am, at 10am I was 6-7cm, used gas and air from 12pm, at 1pm had to push, at 2.49pm waters broke and at 3.10 my darling son was born!
2nd degree tear, quite a few stitches but no probs. Breasfeeding brilliantly but Shock the pain!
He slept 8 hours that night and I got a row from the midwife for not waking him for a feed!
8 and a half months later and we're having the time of our lives.
Just wanted to share that with you all!

Only just discovered this!

Name: James
Birthdate: 27th August 2005 (4 days early)
Time 11.37am
Weight: 7lb 7and a half ozs
Where: GWH Swindon

Experience: Been having backach for the last 6+ weeks in lower back/bottom. That night the backach started as usual and got worse and worse. Until finally I woke dp and said this backaches ridiculous it's coming in waves. Finally the penny dropped when the backache was unbearable and coming in 3 minute intervals. (no period pains, no pains in bump, just horrendus pains in bottom and legs)

When we arrived at the hospital I was 7cm dilated, had a back to back labour, had an epidural which didn't work, and gas and air. Was ready to push within an hour of arrival but JAmes got stuck and eventually had an episotomy and a ventuse birth. Phew!

thanks for pointing this out bramblina!

Name: Charlie Jack
Birthdate: 9th August 2005 (3 days late)
Time: 9.17pm
Weight: 6lb 7 and a half oz
Where: Kent & Canterbury Birthing Unit (lovely place!)

Experience: Woke at 5am with stomach cramps - called midwife who advised eating weetabix (not great advice since that started me being sick for the rest of the day!) Managed to stay at home until 4ish, relaxed at bithing unit until about 7. Started on gas&air soon after, stood up leaning on bed throughout birth and (strange as it sounds) really enjoyed the experience!
Unfortunately I tore and midwife couldn't decide if it was 2nd or 3rd degree (the painful bit was her poking around to try to decide!) In the meantime I still hadn't eaten or drunk anything so ended up FFing Charlie (which I am really enjoying)
Transferred to Ashford hospital (not a nice place!) at 11pm and left to fend for myself until 7am when the anaesthatist told me I'd decided to have a spinal anaesthetic (the one thing I'd desperately not wanted!) as I'd had to wait so long since labour. Only a 2nd degree tear in the end anyway!

Finally on ward at 11am - after nearly 24 hours of asking I finally had a shower and Charlie had the blood washed off his head that evening. Sorry to go on but I hated that hospital and felt really cheated not to spend longer at K&C!

Oh! Hadn't seen this thread...
Name: Milo Angus
Birthday: August 11
Time: ummm...was it 8.45am or 9.45am ...Blush
Weight: 7lbs 12oz
Where: Plymouth
Experience: Long, slow, painful, back to back, babies head at daft angle labour...pain relief injection, then gas and air, then syntocinon as contractions irregular followed by epidural, about 37 hours into labour...about 45 minutes away from having to have a c-section...meconium, in comes consultant (cue about 76 people to have nose around between my legs to see very unusual presentation of head!) episiotomy and kegel forceps. Wow! Am exhausted again just typing it! And this is the very abridged version! Smile

Thanks for the link from the other thread, hadn't realised this was here.

Name: Phoebe Grace
Birth date: 14th September 2005 (14 days after due date)
Time: 8:35pm
Weight: 9lbs 4oz
Where: Aberdeen Maternity Hospital

Experience: Taken in for induction at 12 days over, failed to progress after 54 hours - dd was back to back and they think contractions not effective due to bi-cornate uterus - emergency c-section. Labour not too bad to begin with, managed for a good 13 hours on just TENS machine once things really started to get sore but gradually need more help and ended up having everything. Worst part was the spinal block I was given for the section, was very weird sensation being given a bed bath and watching legs that I coldn't feel being washed! Still can't remember all that happened during the course of my labour as was so tired and fairly doped up. Hasn't put me off thinking of having more though Grin!
