FAO: All the bitter lefties who were bitching about Zac Goldsmith's election agent

You know the one described as a "braying hooray" amongst very many other insults.

Turns out he grew up on a council estate and went to state schools in London and not of "The Oratory" variety either, so not really a "braying hooray" at all. I am sure that many who labelled him will not care but they are the same type of people who bleat on about "fat cats" and etonians as if they are some sort of special speciea

I don't take anything that bitter lefties or bitter right wingers take very seriously, I assure you

My prejudices against Zac Goldsmith are not knee-jerk. I think he is a creep, from a long line of creeps.

applauds SWC.

nothing wrong with ranting about annoying slebs but let's not get tribal about it.

AndieWalsh · 19/05/2010 12:35

I agree, stupid thread.

however, I don't think 'the spirit of MN' precludes having strong political opinions (one way or the other).

And if 'Tribalism' means supporting a political ideology over other political ideologies then yes, call me tribal.

Andie - no, that isn't what tribalism means

AndieWalsh · 19/05/2010 12:44

I was trying to get at exactly what the problem is with being a 'bitter leftie', not actually asking for a definition of tribalism

I am leftwing. I do feel bitter about the Tories getting in. Hell, I even enjoy a'childish whine' about it from time to time. However, I am also a grown up. i am politically acrive. Whine is not all I do

AndieWalsh · 19/05/2010 12:44

active

Blu · 19/05/2010 12:48

But the DM describes Cameron as ZG's 'fellow Etonian'.
And his father was a billionaire....why on earth did he hav a council house?

(only mildly inteested, I don't really give a toss about him one way or the other except to have no respect for his expedient non-dom shenanigans)

Yes, quite @ Blue

i think we must all be talking about different Zac Goldsmiths

sethstarkaddersmum · 19/05/2010 12:51

I think some people haven't read the thread properly and think it's Zac Goldsmith that grew up in a council estate and went to state school, rather than his election agent.

AndieWalsh · 19/05/2010 12:53

This thread really is getting silly now! ,goes off to be bitter and leftwing wlsewhere>

Ponders · 19/05/2010 13:02

I do love it when people get their wires crossed halfway down a thread

bobthebuddha · 19/05/2010 13:22

"I do love it when people get their wires crossed halfway down a thread"

Innit though....(thinks about pointing out to AndieWalsh that I was referring to prejudices against the election agent and not Zac Goldsmith)...ah bollocks to it!

Blu · 19/05/2010 13:43

Oooh, yes, his agent ! Thunk.

sethstarkaddersmum · 19/05/2010 13:54

I think Andie has gone off in a huff already, despite the fact that she seems to have been the first person to misread it

OtterInaSkoda · 19/05/2010 16:10

I was of course thinking "bloody hell - does that mean Jemima grew up on a council estate then? Did Sir James desert them and leave them in poverty?". I had missed out the crucial word: agent

OtterInaSkoda · 19/05/2010 16:11

Oh and I see I'm not the only one

expatinscotland · 19/05/2010 18:44

Every time I see his agent, I smile. For no other reason than his name is Rupert. This always reminds me of our lovely, ginger tom with the same name. He was a love of a cat.

jackstarbright · 19/05/2010 18:51

I thought the agent's name is David - Gosh this thread is confusing .
