Are 'U' turns cowardice or compromise?

Think we might be hearing the words ''compromise / concession / back down and 'u' turns'' very soon.

Which ones are positive and embrace change and unity and which reveal cowardice and disloyalty to their party?

Confused.

eg If CONS endorse electoral reform / if LIB DEMS give up on it....are we as the electorate ready to compromise and work towards coalition?

Just a thought.

It's a fine line.

If it's because the facts change, and so you change your mind, it is brilliant.

If it's because it's on an issue which just isn't that important, and can be jettisoned for a higher ideal, then that is understandable, if you are open about it.

If it's because the public just think it's unpopular, and you can't carry through your convictions, then it is cowardice - but tempered with reality.

I'm with you on the first two but I don't think the public knows what the public wants if we were asked to compromise.

The votng showed so much spread with no really strong majority and 25% of views unknown (non voters)...big diversity which is what I love about UK.

Just wonder if we expect more from our politicians than we are capable of ourselves?
