Would you vote Conservative if you work in the Public Sector? Really?

According to David Cameron I am a faceless bureaucrat and he is going to either freeze my pay or get rid of my job.

It doesn't seem much of a motivation for me to vote for him.

So if you work in the Public Sector and are going to vote Conservative, come and tell me why.

don't people in the public sector see themselves first and foremost as 'doctor', 'teacher', 'binman' etc rather than civil servant? Unless I am confused about what you mean by public sector. Very often those people feel hostile to 'bureaucrats' themselves - eg like when doctors go on about NHS managers.

Ineedsomesleep I wasn't having a go at you. But I was surrounded by people who constantly moaned about their pay, yet couldn't find a job as well paid in the private sector, despite always threatening to leave.

Anyway, if the pay and service cuts are too extreme, people will leave, forcing the public sector pay up once more.

Well in my public sector front line job it's definietly better paid in the private sector
and we've already had pay freezes and job cuts

"Think us Pencil Pushers do actually do some necessary stuff."

Yes, like desk polishing.

Being a civil servant is a frustrating situation to be in these days, as generally they are not allowed to defend themselves publically when people start spouting tosh about gold-plated pensions and bonuses and so on. The unions aren't much better, mind.

I do work in the public sector (nurse) and I will not be voting Tory (not ever). I worry about their plans for Mental Health Services, given that they they seem to shit on the most vulnerable in society from a great height.
