Excellent speech. I challenge the Conservative and LibDem supporting MNers to link to a speech by the other leaders which comes close to this.

Reminds me of the speech he made after Labour won the election in '97. I remember thinking he should have been PM at the time and not Blair.

Am very interested by the Post Office/People's Bank thing - we have something similar sounding in France and it is both popular and respected.

Also love 'great speech/let's march/Roman stuff' at the end.

I'm in total denial about the possibility of a Tory win but if it happens I hope GB is better recognised by the history books than he has been by much of the population he has tried so hard to serve fairly.

I tell you what is missing here, the part just before he got up to speak when the little girl was talking and she started to cry and he instinctively went to get up to comfort her, wasn't sure he should, sat back down, got half back up, sat back down ( I (a conservative!) was screaming at the tv 'go on give her a cuddle!!!) finally he rushed over to her and put his arm around her.

It was the first time i've smiled and not sniggered at Brown.
