It's a relief, made my decision and voted. I can now ignore all the campaigning noises, it's too late to change my mind.

Am I the first to cast my vote?

DH did his yesterday. Mine is on the side waiting for me to do it.

ant3nna · 25/04/2010 18:37

I'm doing mine tomorrow but its only for the local elections as I'm voting in the general in person so I still feel like I have to listen to the campaigning stuff.

Peaceflower · 25/04/2010 19:35

Voted for both council and parliament. Postal voting is great!

ChasingSquirrels · 25/04/2010 19:37

did mine yesterday

IMoveTheStars · 25/04/2010 19:41

Yep, did ours yesterday, now when they come knocking on the door at 7pm, I can tell them not to waste their breath

Peaceflower · 25/04/2010 21:15

Am still waiting for mine! I even put a note on the request form to say I was out of the country from 29th so please could I have it before then...still no sign..

Will be mightily pissed off if I don't get it!

Could I sue??

swissmiss · 25/04/2010 21:30

did mine friday, local and national. now just have to ignore the next 2 wks of news, interviews and debates and nutters knocking on the door

fluffles · 25/04/2010 21:36

my postal vote hasn't arrived yet - we're away from friday, hope it comes before then!

Tashtodd · 25/04/2010 22:01

fluffles: perhaps you should ring your council and ask if you can have a proxy vote if it doesn't arrive - ie someone else can vote on your behalf. Don't know if there is a deadline for arranging that but they should be able to tell you

fluffles, sorry to hear you haven't received your postal vote. It might be just campaign fluff, but I had a call from a conservative campaigner on Saturday, asking me if I had received my postal ballot. He claimed lots of people had said they hadn'treceived theirs.

fluffles · 26/04/2010 16:27

hmm... we did get letters saying we'd been granted the postal votes. i will check them to see if they gave a deadline for them arriving...

AMumInScotland · 26/04/2010 16:48

Our letter said they'd arrive "on or after" Tuesday 27th, and to contact them if they hadn't arrived by Friday 30th - do check your letter to see whether it said the same. Ours actually turned up this morning, so I'll probably do it when I get in. Vote early, vote often! that's my motto....

Yep. We got ours done and dusted at the weekend, too.

Kaloki · 27/04/2010 17:02

We haven't received ours Don't think we've recieved a letter about them either.. hmm, this isn't good.

Peaceflower · 27/04/2010 18:09

Had the lib dems checking today to see if I'd received my papers. None of their business, don't know why it's public info how someone's going to vote.

traumaqueen · 27/04/2010 18:11

Just realised I am away on business on polling day and too late to get postal vote. Feel very conflicted - relieved at not having to make momentous decision as to which government next, but disenfranchised and frustrated at the same time.

Ah well, I know I can trust Mumsnetters to make the right decision (whatever it ends up being)

PussinJimmyChoos · 27/04/2010 21:26

I received my postal vote but only one ballot paper - seems to be for local candidates only...should I be getting one for national also??
