Hi, my 14mth old daughter and I went for coffee with Eddie Izzard yesterday. I'm blogging about the constituency, for the Mumsnet Marginals section.
If you go to the Election section, and click on Mumsnet Marginals....then click on the Withington constituency....you can read all about how my daughter met a Hollywood star...all in the name of the Mumsnet Election.

Here's the link to the Izzard post mumsnet.com/blogs/electiongirl/2010/04/19/eddie-izzard-is-in-town/

Goingspare · 20/04/2010 11:43

Well, aren't you the lucky one?

policywonk · 20/04/2010 11:49

It's coffee morning central today - OBM is off having coffee with Harriet Harman as we speak. Imagine Eddie has better jokes though.

Poledra · 20/04/2010 11:50

I'd rather meet Eddie than Harriet C'mon, policy, who're you getting to meet? You must be involved in all this somewhere?

BessieBoots · 20/04/2010 11:51

Phwoooooooar Eddie Izzard, he's gorgeous.

thumbwitch · 20/04/2010 11:51

God I am - I love Eddie Izzard! Was it fun?

OrmRenewed · 20/04/2010 11:51

How lovely! I like him.

helyg · 20/04/2010 11:52

I read that earlier when I was catching up with the marginals blogs.

Nobody nearly that interesting around here!

notwavingjustironing · 20/04/2010 11:53

Am I meant to believe that this is a genuine MNer, or someone involved in the Lucy Powell roadshow?

policywonk · 20/04/2010 12:01

poledra - sadly not!

policywonk · 20/04/2010 12:01

(Should say that OBM is meeting HH because HH is coming to OBM's constituency for a coffee morning - isn't an MN thing)

helyg · 20/04/2010 12:03

I think I must be really naive.

It hadn't occurred to me that the blogs coudl be used in that way!

Not saying that is necessarily what the OP is doing, but it has made me think a bit more about the credibility of the blogs.

Mine is real though, you can tell because its really, really boring

bibbitybobbityhat · 20/04/2010 12:04

Right.

What is a Mumsnet Marginal?

What is a Mumsnet Election?

What does any of it have to do with Eddie Izzard?

What might I learn from reading your blog?

Thanks.

notwavingjustironing · 20/04/2010 12:04

Well maybe I'll come and talk to you instead helyg!

notwavingjustironing · 20/04/2010 12:07

Personally, I think the OP is part of Lucy's propaganda machine - not some interested Labour voter who happened upon Eddie Izzard in in a local coffee shop!

Also - please, "how my daughter met a Hollywood star...all in the name of the Mumsnet election"

Yes that was really the reason for it, wasn't it - to help the Mumsnet election cause along?

helyg · 20/04/2010 12:08

Thread about the blogs here
My (very boring) blog here

You probably won't learn anything, but I'm rather enjoying writing it!

ElectionGirl · 20/04/2010 12:19

Hello notwavingjustironing, I am just one of the bloggers for the Mumsnet Marginals; am not involved in any of the campaigns.
I've just had a chat on the phone with our local MP, the Lib Dem guy and will be blogging about that later too.
I'm just having fun really, as I like the whole process of elections. But you don't have to be involved in anyone's campaign to phone them up, or go and approach them when they're out and about.
I just said I was blogging for Mumsnet, and suddenly, there I am sitting opposite Eddie Izzard.
It might just be because it's such a close run thing round here but candidates are all pretty approachable, they want supporters, they'll stop and chat if they think it will help them win a vote.

helyg · 20/04/2010 12:24

I'm far too scared to approach any of them and mention that I'm blogging for mumsnet.

Also I can't help thinking it would sound a bit twee, I don't want to be in the same class as Mondeo Man and and Worcester Woman!

Although I did once (many years ago when I was a student) accost Lembit Opik in Burger King to ask a question about our Liberal candidate...

notwavingjustironing · 20/04/2010 12:40

I just feel a little bit talked down to, that's all!

There are similar threads all over the place at the moment and it's frankly, quite dull.

I'm well aware I don't need a note from my mum to go and talk to a politician (or indeed a Hollywood star) - but I honestly don't believe you're not part of Lucy's contingent. Which is fine, but why not be honest?

CatherineHMumsnet · 20/04/2010 14:28

Just to say, I asked ElectionGirl to post a thread in here. Thought her blog on meeting Eddie was interesting and wanted to make sure people knew it was up.

helyg · 20/04/2010 14:31

...and you're trying to say that the rest us don't have interesting blogs?

thatsnotmymonkey · 20/04/2010 14:33

Tell us about Eddie!!

posieparker · 20/04/2010 14:34

So what?

WebDude · 20/04/2010 14:45

Been out of touch TV/sleb-wise so know nothing about his "Hollywood" stardom.

Stayed with friends in Beverly Hills some years ago, and the various streets in Hollywood that I saw looked a bit tacky, to be honest.

(He wasn't giving me a tour of the high spots and low spots, but he is a film producer!)
