What do make of the DC thing where he held NC back from shaking hands last night?

Was just showing it to DH on ITV player and seeing it again DC definitely held NC back when GB went down to shake hands with the audience.

What was that about? Is it naive to think it was 'let him go 1st, he's the PM'? Or do you think he was trying to score points?

Just a bit weird, I'd like to know other thoughts on it.

Didn't watch til the end so didn't see this bit.

But I thought it was against the 'rules' for them to do it.

So I wonder if it was motivated by DC wanting GB to make a twat of himself?

I thought it was so they didn't all stand there in a huddle like goons. Let GB get going first. Also abit of "he's the PM".

i noticed that actually.

but thought it was an ipromptu "meeet the populace" by GoBro and the other 2 weren't quite sure what was happening:

O maybe making sure they were allowed?

I thought - nc has done so well but is following what dc says but then thought dc was probably just saying I'm not sure if we can meet the audiance.
nc was to follow gb but instead was stopped by dc & went on to do his own thing (just like what could happen in politics)

I think it was staged. I think it was one of the many rules that they all had to agree to. Clegg forgot the rule and Cameron reminded him.

DC seemed throughout to be very mindful of the rules - he stopped talking immediately when told by Alistair Stewart whereas GB did a bit of interrupting which was against the rules (although it made for better telly). So I think they were either told not to or weren't told they could so DC didn't but GB went ahead and did it anyway. NC was being polite and didn't ignore DC's comments to him.

I thought it was so that as the cameras panned back, there would be the two of them on the stage after GB had wandered off.
