Orbán in Hungary - out!

Vucic in Serbia - out!

Bolsonaro in Brazil - out!

Hope it continues, especially in the U.S.

Any hope for Israel?

Ohh it has been a great week if you hate populism, racism and authoritarianism.

Not so great for Farage.

Sadly no - there will be a slightly different assortment of bastards but it's not getting any better.

I think Trump and GOP will have their arses handed to them in the midterms, but Trump will utterly refuse to accept the outcome.

How deplorably absent-minded of me!

I meant to end with: "Next up, Bibi in Israel?"

:)

Wouldn’t it be wild if all the centre-left/ centre right countries went far right, as the far right countries move back to the centre!

I'm worried about what comes after. Trump's response will tell us whether there's any chance of him being removed without a revolution or a war. Glad to hear the Dems have some response plans at least.

Democrats Get Ready for the Sore-Loser-in-Chief

A look inside their election-defense operation.

Yes great news for Serbia and Brazil, Hungary was a good result too. Trump needs his arse kicked hard, and the US needs to make sure he’s totally gone in 2 years. Sadly in Israel they will just continue being hardline right wing and keep on killing Palestinians. The youth of Israel are mainly right wing, and its young people that are pushing change in other countries.

Eatingdirt · 28/10/2026 08:13

You forgot to mention Hamas and how their leadership have refused elections since 2005 and recently refused to hold one again. You also forgot to mention how they keep killing Israelis and how the younger Palestinians are driving the inability to find peace from the Palestinian side as they want the destruction of the Israeli nation, not a two state solution. @MissyB1 Hope this balance helps!

BrandiedAromatics · 28/10/2026 08:40

I hope that we can all agree that it is very good that the Palestinian citizens of Israel have turned out to vote in unprecedented numbers. I hope that former ministers of Netanyahu's government don't continue to urge them to emigrate.

No balance in what you’ve said at all - but you know that.

wonderstuff · 28/10/2026 08:52

I was in Prague at the weekend and they have a right wing populist government, they were out protesting in large numbers on Sunday because the government had passed a bill to take control of the state broadcaster, the vote on it was arranged to happen in the middle of the night, they have another couple of years until next elections in Czechia. I mention it here because it didn’t make the UK news that I could see.

I think you know that it was balancing out the bias in your post. I forgot to add that Hamas are also responsible for the deaths of their own citizens - those who oppose them or are rivals for control of Gaza, and all those who died in the unnecessary war that Hamas started and which Hamas failed to build any bomb shelters for civilians and refused to allow its citizens in the two tier underground tunnel city they built, despite being warned of incoming bombing. Did you forget to put all that in your post or do you think right wing authoritarianism only happens in countries you believe are white?

One curious thing about Trump is that he's not only a sore loser - he's even a sore winner.

Marine Le Pen is well ahead in opinion polls for the 2027 French Presidential election, and certainly if the current person in second place were to be the second round opponent (Jean-Luc Melachon) would I think win easily.

LouisTheYardTeacher · 28/10/2026 21:00

I don't think there was an ousting in Brazil was there? I thought the lefty incumbent won against the son of the former leader.

TheRealSmurfette · 03/11/2026 04:21

Let’s bloody hope so! 🤞
