Yes!!! Learners only to be able to book driving tests

So relieved to have this change. Maybe ds will be able to book a test. I’ve been trying to put the pieces together for ds to learn to drive for YEARS.

Companies (and some individuals) have been block booking tests and then reselling them at inflated prices.

Driving instructors on behalf of their students?

Also there’s a black market trade of scum bags booking up thousands of slots and then selling them on at an inflated cost - much like ticket touts for concerts.

Oh yes, I had forgotten about this! I did know that. Doh.

This is one of those things that should've been sorted absolutely years ago but I'm glad it's finally being done now

and it should never have ended up like that in the first place!

From what I know bots were block booking the slots creating a massive backlog and then charging huge amounts to release them. A good move by the government in blocking this practice

Definitely wouldn’t be hard to implement. In Australia I just booked for my son. You can only book with a drivers licence number and can only book 1 test per number. There is still apps and stuff which can notify you if a sooner test comes up - but you have to log in with the same drivers licence number and change the booking. No double booking allowed.

I'd be interested to know who made money out of the way they were running the system before.
