The Times is reporting that Alistair Carns, armed forces minister, is preparing a leadership bid.

What do people think? Is he just too inexperienced?

He’s been touted as a future leader for a few months now; I think it’s too early for him as he hasn’t enough political experience despite having a strong background of military leadership.

Yeah The Times has been pushing him for some little while.

Didn't he tactically absent himself from votes related to veterans though?

I didn’t know that. If he is going to try for a big role, he needs to be super-careful I guess - maybe he is after being Wes’s defence sec? Although the current one seems pretty solid, he may just be a bit too Keir for the next guy.
