I'm starting this thread in the hopes that people won't pile on to the old one. God only knows how many assassination attempts there'll be - although technically I don't think this can be labelled an attempted assassination.
This was already going to be a controversial event. The White House press has an annual formal dinner where they get to mock presidents and the president gets his chance, too. (President Obama famously insulted Trump, which some said led to Trump's candidacy.) Trump is enraged at being mocked generally, and reportedly was planning to heap insults on the press in a way that is outside the norm.
Then this armed man, Cole Allen, burst in through the outer layer of security.

Trump is using the opportunity to advance his dream of building a grand ballroom - after having wrecked a large portion of the White House.
Conspiracy theories abound - not the Cole Allen was part of some dark conspiracy, but that Trump engineered it himself.
