Presumed planned Trump assassination at press dinner gala

I'm starting this thread in the hopes that people won't pile on to the old one. God only knows how many assassination attempts there'll be - although technically I don't think this can be labelled an attempted assassination.

This was already going to be a controversial event. The White House press has an annual formal dinner where they get to mock presidents and the president gets his chance, too. (President Obama famously insulted Trump, which some said led to Trump's candidacy.) Trump is enraged at being mocked generally, and reportedly was planning to heap insults on the press in a way that is outside the norm.

Then this armed man, Cole Allen, burst in through the outer layer of security.

What we know about Cole Allen, suspected White House Correspondents' dinner shooter

Trump is using the opportunity to advance his dream of building a grand ballroom - after having wrecked a large portion of the White House.

Conspiracy theories abound - not the Cole Allen was part of some dark conspiracy, but that Trump engineered it himself.

Seen on fb earlier: Is it just me or has the quality of American assassins gone down a bit since the 1960s?

I've got better cctv on my chicken run than what was in that hotel lobby.

The majority on here over the last few days seemed to think it was all a conspiracy.

I would hope after the discovery of the shooter's identity and his manifesto, some of the conspiracy theorists will have reconsidered.

Lol! Not sure what you mean.

If you're talking about the quality of the shooter, Cole Allen is reportedly a very educated person.

If you're talking about the ability to succeed with their goal, then you may be right!

Then again, the U.S. is declining in so many ways.

I was amazed at the cynical reactions posting in the main forum where I hang out, mentioning a conspiracy - staged by Trump himself. And then this morning, I was listening to a reporter say she was amazed that the conspiracy theories started to pop up online within minutes!

I'm not generally a big believer in this kind of thing, but there are a number of peculiarities. What struck me at the time was the oddity that Trump was speaking in a calm, measured way totally unlike his usual incoherent self.
