The Monroe Doctrine - well, few people these days know, and I'm no expert. I can only tell you that the original intent, about 200 years ago from President James Monroe, was to keep Europe from meddling in the Americas. Trump has perverted the idea to try to ensure that he's the only one who can bully and interfere. Typical of Trump's megalomania, he termed it the Donroe Doctrine (although I'm sure he didn't come up with that by himself.)

It's historic but Trump is keen to implement it and directly quotes it on numerous occasions.

We are in trouble, big trouble and while people keep cheering on America we are in grave danger. Cuba, Canada, Venezuela, Greenland are now targets. Britain is already being attacked by the USA, basically through media and economic sanctions....

We need to rejoin the EU and the head of NATO needs to be replaced. We need a NATO that doesn't include America....it's influence on our defence is now our biggest threat.

Cuba is already suffering-Trumps tarriffs and oil blockades mean the economy has tanked, public seevices aren’t running, food is scare and expensive and the power isn’t always on, especially in rural areas.
There was a great programme on Radio 4 about it the other day that’s probably on bbc sounds.
Trump is an unstoppable (it seems) mad man.
