One stolen Ukrainian child was re-named and given to one of Putin's buddies.

Thanks for highlighting this....it's something that has been mentioned quite a few times on the dedicated Ukraine war threads but for some reason that's a conflct that doesn't seem to generate that much interest on MN.

It’s horrifying. The Russians want to erase Ukrainian identity, language and future. By taking Ukrainian children they are taking Ukraines future. I can’t imagine the pain for both the children and their parents
Russians want genocide, Ukraine obliterated wiped out and Russified.

Part of the problem might be from the lay-out/set-up of the forums.
And also, one has to admit, even though it's awful, the tiny number of children "rescued" in this contemptible way is dwarfed by the much larger numbers of deaths.

I think one factor has been those posting on Ukraine haven't felt the need to start a brand new thread every time something awful happens - if they had the dedicated Ukraine conflict threads would be up to well over #1000, rather than just under #60....some conflicts can suck up almost unlimited bandwidth, others don't.

Very much agree with your second para.

That touches on a separate problem: The tendency of people to be lazy or sloppy about how they title their posts. Like "So upset about Ukraine!" so that the subject may wander even more than usual. I try to be pretty specific about mine.
In the case of Ukraine, it's not that people would post about separate battles, but about different aspects. For instance, I think I posted an article about a woman fighter pilot.
