The attack on Iran reminds me of finding Mumsnet

It was back at the time of some Iran tensions that I was wishing I could find an international chat forum, because the ones I knew were all US-based and seemed very limited and insular. I'd read something that implied there was an English-language forum based in Iran, and poked around online looking for it. I never found it, but I did find MN...

I'd still like to find something really international. But then it probably wouldn't be in English, I suppose.

I look at Al Jazeera sometimes for a non-Western perspective on international news. It's particularly interesting to see how they're covering current events. They are funded by the Qatari government, which treads an interesting path between Western and Middle Eastern interests in global affairs. There is bias in the reports, of course, as with all news coverage, but it is a different perspective from US and European news outlets.

I am equally interested in any forums that are suggested.

It's not so much that I was looking for news, but would have liked to listen to the people, the citizens. It would be great if, for instance, there were some Iranian or Afghan women regs on MN.
