Will single parents still be entitled to UC?

Just as the title says, will single parents still be entitled to universal credit?

I'm a single parents of two, I'm not entitled to UC at the moment as I have more than 20k savings in the bank. However my savings are dwindling fast so I was planning to apply soon for UC, when entitled. The calculator previously said I'd be entitled to around 900-950 pounds a month including child benefit, as I work for almost minimum wage. I cant remember exactly the figure. Will the changes made affect this? Does anyone know?

TIA

No one knows yet for sure, but so far none of the proposals are targeted at single parents

I can't imagine that any changes will exclude one whole group of claimants

From what I can gather the main target appears to be people who are claiming capability (not working through ill health) in addition to UC who seem to be the main focus. There has been no mention of people who are already working but are low income or single parents that I can see.

You can claim after your savings dip below £16k but you will still be subject to deductions in a sliding scale until your savings go below £6k. If you can spend a lump sum on eg overpaying your mortgage or upgrading your car then your deductions will be less. Don’t however spend it on a blow out holiday - this will be deprivation of assets!

Thanks for the replies!

I cannot see any prospect whatever of any government disentitling a massive and for the vast majority deserving cohort.

Whether they'll continue to increase pressure on those it says should be working and claiming child care is another question.
