Losing faith in humanity

Feeling utterly depressed after reading some of the newly released court transcripts on the Pakistani rape gangs. Then on top of this, the attitude of some of my ( middle class) female friends - omg - saying things like they were little slags - and knew what they were doing. Vulnerable kids labelled little slags ? They were 11 and 12 yrs old!! My faith in humanity is all but lost. Maybe it’s the beginning of the year but there is a part of me that wants to empty my savings account, take the dog and fuck off somewhere away from people, but I can’t because I have to cocking work 🙄

Most grooming is done by white men government stats show this in terms of percentages of each population in the uk white men are over represented while other ethnic groups are under represented

How are they over represented in a country that is majority white? Also as we've all seen, being under represented in official statistics means absolutely nothing.

I have nothing against people of Pakistani heritage and all abuse is equally repulsive and devastating no matter the ethnicity of the perpetrator. But I think the reason the ethnicities of everyone involved in these cases is being highlighted is because race was an integral factor of the abuse. These little girls were targeted because of their race. They were told white girls are impure/slags etc.
The abusers were racial supremacists who thought that they were entitled to horrifically abuse a "lower" race of girls.

‘Slags’ is the word those women who I thought were friends used. Poor working class white girls - some in care 😞😞 so super vulnerable. It’s utterly depressing

Yes you're right. It's actually these vile perpetrators who are racists. I've read that Sikh girls were also targeted in some areas as they were also seen as lower or less-than.

Absolutely this.

Agree OP, the stories coming out are so horrifying, and the abuse was ignored and allowed to continue due to a complete lack of humanity from people whose job it was to protect these girls.
Meanwhile the handful of decent people that tried to blow the whistle were shouted down , accused of being racist and in some cases lost their jobs.
It's so depressing I can't read much more on it, it's really affecting me. Those poor poor girls and apparently it is still happening.

I think additionally there was hesitation to investigate because of the race of the offenders. Race was very much at play here unfortunately. We shouldn’t ignore it because it’s uncomfortable.

OP it left me feeling incredibly sad and despondent too, they were just little kids.

User37482 · 08/01/2025 08:43

I find the fact that people are more angry at Musk than the actual rapists really just bewildering. I don’t really get it. I’m asian and I care more about the children than what Musk says or whether anyone is offended by any of this. Theres a problem, to prevent this from happening we have to be honest about it. I never want any child to go through this again. The fact that people literally had to move house to save their kids without any help from the police is shocking to me. We lets abuses and criminals act with impunity, it is extremely serious that people who were so scared they had to move home weren’t protected.

Absolutely sickening, I am ashamed of what this country has become. Why are they protecting these men and refusing a public inquiry? Why are they still getting away with it? Those poor girls and their families. Shame on those people who turned a blind on and I hope the people who did it rot in hell.

This is horrifying to read. My heart breaks for those poor children and what they endured. Anyone who thinks that those girls are culpable in anyway is messed up. I don’t like Elon Musk and I don’t know what his angle is but he has raised awareness about this. As an asian woman I am sick of the misogyny and of some men who have such disgusting attitudes towards women. I think that there should be a full review of what went wrong and every single one of those bastard men publicly paraded and humiliated.

With respect to you, I genuinely don't think it's the case. Keir Starmer said he's spoken to a number of victims and they all want the recommendations from the last national inquiry to finally be enacted, and they don't want yet another inquiry holding everything up again. This was backed up by the journalist who first revealed the Rochdale scandal and keeps in touch with the victims, and by Baroness Jay who chaired the National child abuse inquiry. The victims want action, not another repeat of the inquiry. It would take years.

In this country we seem to have one inquiry after another but nothing actually gets done! Look at the Post Office. How long do we have to wait until somebody in management is finally behind bars?! But I digress.

The enquiry that is being called for is into the cover up and, my word, has there been a cover up.

Watch this and weep 😢

I kind of agree. I would like to see a task force - like the NCA turn over every stone and find those responsible for underplaying it and covering it up.Put the victims at the heart of it - they need justice. Also those who hold dual nationality should be deported - I am not far right - I’m a centrist , slightly left leaning in some aspect and fiscally right leaning so I’m not jumping on any bandwagon 😊
