He's different to career politicians and an outsider so not one of the 'establishment' or 'elite'. He speaks for the common person and ignites feelings of nationalism.

For many, America is broken and people are in desperate need of change and he offers hope.

Apparently so. He talks about things that affect the disenfranchised in the States. For example, building a wall to keep out immigrants. People think there are too many immigrants and that's why life is such a struggle (like Farage who is also a populist).

Trump also said he'd rebuild the rust belts and America's industry - appealing to blue collar workers. His slogan is Make America Great Again, harking back to a time before neo Liberalism and globalisation.

People are angry at politicians and the establishment, Trump rails against it. He's an isolationist and an authoritarian which his fans like as they are terrified of terrorism and outside threats to their way of life. He talks about Christian values and traditional families. He mocks wokeness and progressives.

Trump is utterly scary. I can't imagine why or how anyone could even consider voting for him, but it seems plenty will. There could well be a madman in the Whitehouse again soon.

He looks likely to win the election now though because the Democrats are is such a shit show. Biden is no longer a credible option but he still may refuse to stand down.

Exactly- unless he stopped funding Ukraine and tells them to give up parts of their country to Russia. Thats the only way I can see him ending the war.

Trump will stop giving aid to Ukraine. The US is currently giving billions to Israel, they are also giving them legitimacy on the world stage by remaining their greatest supporter and ally.
