Just got in late from work and catching up on the news. Thinking Starmer looks so uncomfortable shaking hands with Biden. But also, my goodness, Biden doesn’t look like a powerful leader at all?

Probably worried he'd fall over. Again.

daisydalrymple · 11/07/2024 00:13

How can the democrats feel they have a solid leader?? I’ve seen the George Clooney speculation, I always assumed Kamala would run for the second term, I must admit. But what a mess against the Trump option.

Likely intimidated, sure Biden is a massive issue but Keirs in whole new territory here, he’s never been in power before. Just the leader of a party which is normally unsuccessful. Of course he looks uncomfortable, likely shitting it.

SnowFrogJelly · 11/07/2024 01:08

Keir was fine.. Biden however really should step down

combinationpadlock · 11/07/2024 01:21

Thank God we have a prime minister who isn't all slick and charismatic and media trained. he is a normal person who looks like a normal person

So true.

He was probably thinking what the rest of the world is thinking.
He was probably thinking' this man has no capacity whatsoever to make good decisions of the scale and complexity required to effectively run the US'

knitnerd90 · 11/07/2024 05:59

I am not convinced Biden should run again but he's far from doddering and drooling. I dare say it was discomfort from this being so early in his premiership and still being uncomfortable with all of it.

S0livagant · 11/07/2024 06:00

I'd be wondering where his hands had been and if he'd washed them.

MrHarleyQuin · 11/07/2024 06:05

He looks uncomfortable because I'm sure that's how everyone one feels around Biden right now or thinking WTF the USA are doing anyway?

dottiehens · 11/07/2024 06:42

Oh is so nice to look out of depth in the international scene so long he is humble and normal. Bloody hell only in the U.K. you have to hear this shit! People are truly mad here.

KS came out and said he is happy to support him?

I don't think so. Did you see him at the D Day remembrance in France when Sunak had gone home? He was mingling with the other leaders like a real statesman.

Spacecrispsnack · 11/07/2024 06:53

Probably just felt a bit awkward given the prevailing opinion over here is that he should step down before it’s too late.

This

He was probably feeling a mixture of concern and compassion for Biden the man. And a quiet WTF about the political implications...
Biden's bid for presidency making it likely that Trump will win again
Is this really the best america has to offer
What's going to happen with Ukraine
NATO

All of the above are quite unsettling, uncomfortable thoughts

shellyleppard · 11/07/2024 07:05

I think Biden looks the more uncomfortable.....kier starmer is only just in the job and looks normal to me.

EasternStandard · 11/07/2024 07:06

I didn’t see it but heard a clip on the radio, he was fine

More to the point is Clooney now getting news on asking Biden to step down

What an odd comment.

I wouldn't expect he'd remember without prompting.
