Don't know if anyone is curious about Melania Trump?

She's definitely outside the norm of American First Ladies.

The Unsolvable Mysteries of Donald and Melania’s Marriage
By Frank Bruni

“He reserves fear for one person, Melania Trump.” That’s what Kellyanne Conway said about Donald Trump in her testimony before a congressional committee in 2022. But is that really true?

“At the end of the day, she could probably make or break him.” That’s what Stephanie Grisham, Donald Trump’s former press secretary, said about Melania to Katie Rogers of The Times this week. But is that because Melania has command of his heart or of his secrets? It’s a mystery, like so much about their marriage and about the former first lady herself.

Melania was tugged back into the news this week as her husband went on trial in Manhattan on charges stemming from his supposed dalliance with the porn star Stormy Daniels. Journalists wanted to know what Melania Trump was thinking. The judge presiding over the trial said that she could theoretically be called to testify.

Yes I am. I thought she was relieved not to be First Lady anymore, but apparently not. I really thought she would leave him.

Blackcats7 · 26/04/2024 03:26

I often wonder if she could leave him should she want to. Can you imagine his fury if she did and the way he would behave? It would be terrifying.

MsAmerica · 30/04/2024 02:05

I'm not sure what you'd mean by if she "could" leave him. The general opinion is that she was a gold-digger, and my personal opinion is that she was in over her head. It's widely known that she re-negotiated her pre-nup agreement when Trump was elected - that's why she delayed moving to Washington: She wouldn't go until she got what she wanted. Supposedly she re-negotiated again recently.

I'm guessing she's a boring, unhappy person with a boring, unhappy life. It must be hell living with Trump and listening to him rant.

@MsAmerica Melania stayed in New York so that Barron would finish his school year - this was well documented, unlike the ‘widely known’ gossip regarding the Trumps personal fiscal arrangements.

PermanentTemporary · 03/05/2024 06:31

A bit, yes. There are an awful lot of relationships at that level that look nakedly transactional but seem nonetheless to satisfy both people involved perfectly well. Maybe in the end people aren't very complicated.

Sorry, but that story seems kind of silly. Kids move with their family at any time.

Here's this, if you're curious:

I don't think she does live with him. All of their homes are so huge they can live completely separate lives and I think they do. It's extremely rare that they are ever seen together. She also lost her mother recently. I don't imagine she is unhappy, she lives just as she wants, is filthy rich and never has to worry about her financial future. She apparently has a very close knit group of friends who are very loyal.

You may be right. I've always imagined that he comes home from the trials and rants all evening about how unfair everyone is to him.

I've met a lot of very boring people who live very boring lives. Melania Trump doesn't strike me as someone who fits into that category in any way, shape or form! She is 100% on my Best Dinner Party list guests, just without her husband or entourage.

Whether you think it is silly or not, the facts remain.
I’m not curious, thank you all the same.

I can't imagine why anyone would think she'd be a good dinner guest, unless you just are thinking of bragging about it. She's uneducated, and her main interest is reading fashion magazines. And I've never had any indication that she has a sense of humor. Because Trump has always been rejected by the more interesting people in New York, she would have had no contact with generally cultured or accomplished people. I'd imagine she's a stunningly boring conversationalist.

That's a very judgemental post.

I speak as one who is pretty uneducated and has also been rejected by the most interesting people in New York. 😥 I also don't give tell all interviews to the media.
Still and all, manage to have pretty lively dinner party conversations.

I'm no fan of the Trumps but the reflexive snidiness whenever he's mentioned seems very superficial.

Maybe she is a more pleasant person than you are. I would far rather converse with an uneducated person who had an interest in fashion magazines than a conceited, judgemental bore like yourself.

CaveMum · 16/05/2024 15:29

According to Anthony Scaramucci on the US edition of The Rest is Politics, the only person that hates Trump more than Mrs Scaramucci is Melania!

EthnoBotanist · 16/05/2024 15:38

@EconomyClassRockstar what do you know about Melania Trump which makes you think she would be a good dinner guest? I have never read anything about her which makes her sound interesting and she does not seem to be funny, relaxed, charming or entertaining. She has none of the qualities of a good dinner guest. What on earth would you talk to her about?

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 18/05/2024 21:40

I saw enough of her when she wore that coat.

Yes, thank you, I'm glad to be judgemental. That's what being an adult means: using your knowledge and experience to form an opinion.

I think almost is qualified to judge who might be a good dinner guest, and for me, a person lacking in knowledge, in culture, in humor - that sounds pretty dull to me.

How lucky of you to have been rejected by the most interesting people in New York. I haven't even met them, so haven't had the opportunity to be rejected.

So she certainly wasn't seen this evening, supporting her convicted felon husband after the guilty verdicts at his trial @MsAmerica . 🤔

"Trump has always been rejected by the more interesting people in New York, "

The way I remember it he was absolutely everywhere in the 80s and 90s, being fawned over and interviewed, rubbing shoulders with the great and the good, Warhol was shilling for commissions etc.

She never once came to the trial. On the other hand, he was mostly napping all through the trial, so maybe he didn't notice.

Melania is exactly like Donald.
She pushed the birther lie.
She wore that abhorrent “I really don’t care” jacket to visit the children locked in cages at the border.
She called his disgusting “grab them by the pussy,” ‘boy talk.’
She sells cheap jewelry & NFTs. She tried to sell some of her “First Lady” items, but withdrew them when no one bought them.
She’s had years to leave Donald - why hasn’t she? Because she likes the life and his appalling behavior doesn’t bother her enough to give it up - or at all.
Don’t buy the “disinterest” — she likes the life and agrees with Donald more than anything.

Well, it's pretty clear that she has a pre-nuptial agreement, and in recent years she's been squeezing him for more money. She is the most uneducated First Lady we've had a long time, so maybe it's not surprising that she would believe Trump and side with him.
Sometimes I feel sorry for her for a moment - she's just an opportunistic gold-digger who got in over her head - but that doesn't last long.

lol she probably gets a prenup upgrade every time he either screws up or is found guilty - and that was probably written into another, older prenup.
I remember them taking a photo in a hospital with a baby orphaned by a mass shooting, and standing there with actual grins on their faces like it was some happy occasion. I recall the aunt & uncle (who were in the photo also) were Trump fans gave their permission - but I can’t remember which mass shooting it was, because we’ve had so many.
But who on God’s Green Earth thinks that’s appropriate? Melania & Donald do.
I realize that her prenups are probably continually going up, and with that the conditions that she must stay, but no amount of money and real estate and all the jewels in the universe would keep me from leaving.
Besides - she’s getting a little long in the tooth to be attractive to most other “real” billionaires.
Isn’t Barron 18 now as well? She doesn’t need to stay to protect him or his interests.
She’s staying because she wants to - I’m sure of it. Well, that and the spa at Mar-a-Lago.

tribpot · 18/06/2024 06:12

It was the El Paso shooting in 2019, the mass murder of Latino Americans by a white supremacist in a Walmart in Texas.

DreamTheMoors · 18/06/2024 23:19

@tribpot thank you. And that white supremacist had to drive for 11 hours or something to make sure that that particular Walmart was filled with Latinos - many of whom lived in Mexico and came across the border to shop.
And then Donald had to turn it into “let’s take a photo of ME!!”
I despair, I surely do.
