MP's and conflicts of interest

Do you not think that sitting MP's whom are Private Landlords/Utility Company shareholders/Fuel Company shareholders etc have a conflict of interest when it comes to making decisions of the said businesses?
For example, why would any of the MP's that own/have shares in companies really want to do anything about the costs these companies are charging Joe Public? To be honest I personally think it has gone on for far too long and I think they are deliberately not doing enough with pricing policies to help people to line their own pockets.

Ofgem, have put up or allowed increases in the daily standing charge on Utility bills to recoup some of the losses during the pandemic. Ok.... I guess..... so why have they not put them back down after seeing the said companies making huge quarterly profits?? When they 'helped' people with the energy money they gave people, why on earth did EVERYONE have to get it? They know who the vulnerable and most need it people are yet they gave it to rich people too. Was it a case of the rich people saying "well if the poor people are getting it we want it too!!" Absolutely ridiculous.

Same as private landlords and capping the price of rents. Years ago I remember 'Rent Officers' who went round properties and depending on size/state of property set a fixed rental price (albeit mainly for benefit claimants) so why do they not introduce them back?? Too many of MP's are private landlords and obviously do not want this to happen.

The Police
Where to start with these people! They 'do not have the manpower' to attend most crimes yet they have PLENTY of manpower when it comes to traffic police/mobile camera police which if they owned up to it, is to simply make money. It generally has nothing to do with safety as they put it, it is a cashcow for them pure and simple.

This is the first post I have ever made and I am seriously not politically in the know and the above comments are my opinions only. I am just fed up with all the profit margin MP's and their lack of respect for the general public.

@Killerloop Ownerdhip via shares has to be declared. I assume it’s so few MPs it makes little difference? Who are you talking about? They have also been to university so does this make them unable to decide on HE policy? They are allowed to work outside parliament and keep up to date.

The energy companies do not make most of their profits from selling gas to the public. It’s via refining and other income streams. You might need to read up on this.

Which MPs are private landlords? How many? I bet it’s few.,You can see the effect of curtailing what landlords can do and escalating costs. They are selling up.Fewer properties to rent. If rents are fixed there is no incentive to be a LL at all! So the answer is that there must be far more social homes built.

The Police have targets. They don’t care about individuals. The speed police do have targets. Whether this stops accidents is a moot point. I suspect not. Good driving habits and safer cars contribute more I think.
