How many "Vote Conservative" signs are on display in your area.
I haven't seen one. Not one.

I used to live in one. The Tories would always hide away. Don't know why. Surely voting for the party of self serving wankers should be done with pride.

DoTrollsShitInTheThreads · 01/05/2023 23:43

There's none. Strange. It's been Conservative here for a long time.

Maybe they are saving funds for GE in 2024/25

There are a few around here, mainly landowners/farmers, more lib dems ones though in residential locations.

BarryShitpea · 02/05/2023 11:02

None here but a plethora of Labour signs. I'm not surprised, the council (Tory) is currently in millions of ponds of debt and has closed services, leisure facilities and run the town centre into the ground. I'd be embarrassed to say I supported the current shower too.

maranella · 02/05/2023 11:03

I haven't see any either, but then I rarely do. The Lib Dems are dominant here, but Con is in second place. This time around they haven't put a leaflet through the door either. It's like they've just given up or maybe decided to focus resources elsewhere?

Findyourneutralspace · 02/05/2023 11:21

None. I haven't seen much electioneering in the area at all actually, other than a recent visit from Kier Starmer. The local candidates are weirdly quiet, and we are seen as a key seat.

PollyPeptide · 03/05/2023 11:09

There are never any signs up for anyone here except in the prospective councillors' gardens. Hehe. No different this year.

Pipsquiggle · 06/05/2023 08:04

No Conservative signs here.

Loads of Lib Dems and a few independents

Our council was one of the Lib Dem wins. Which is great. The Tory councillors are blaming the government, however, locally lots of really poor decisions have been made due to this Tory council and residents made their voices heard.

I'm not really loyal to any party but I've learned to fear the conservatives and because of that I'll always vote for a candidate that has the best chance of keeping a conservative out of parliament.

I witnessed the BSE scandal and decades of cuts driven by Thatcher and John Major....that taught me to never vote for them.

Everyone slates Tony Blair but he ushered in record investment into healthcare, education and the police. We enjoyed years of growing living standards and despite your views on Europe we all enjoyed the right to travel freely and work across the EU.

Since the torys took power with the help of Clegg it's gone completely pear shaped. We have got used to accepting a managed decline in every part of life. Our freedom, our health, our income and prosperity...it's just getting worse...

This! Things were so much better under Labour. Blair did a lot of good but really fucked up by going into Iraq which was unforgivable. The Tories are a disgrace and have caused so much damage to this country. Brexit, growing inequality, a decline in the state of the NHS and our living standards. I really despise them.

dubsie · 07/05/2023 07:07

I agree about the Iraq war totally but that's the problem with new labour. They were too close to the establishment to stand up to the yanks.

The same happened with Libya and the Ukraine might well end up the same way. We can't say no to the yanks for some reason.

The British people were given a choice with Corbyn but they rejected that change largely because of a smear campaign by both Labour and the Tories.....and a rabid media. Same happened in America with Bernie Sanders and look what happened to Martin Luther.

We rejected Corbyns plan and what we got is frankly terrifying. Our freedom is vanishing at a rate I've not witnessed in 60 years. Even subtle changes like access rights to open spaces and new trespass laws will become huge issues for people in the future unless there are rights are given. I hate so say it I'm afraid people are going to have to shed some blood to restore freedom in the future because it's not coming back easily.

Ive met Jeremy Corbyn at a friend's funeral and I don't think he's anything like what the media say he is. I think he's just an ordinary hard working bloke who's passionate about helping people.

The conservatives have never been a party of optimism. Its always been about exploitative policies that drive division. The torys use terms like woke but the reality is it's just another smoke screen to take your attention off their failures. They blamed Europe for our problems before Brexit....now it's immigration and woke.....when will they take responsibility.
