Coz Russia is the master of disseminating discord. China is a rival for Russia. Undermining globalisation suits Russia's purposes; if they can't improve themselves they can undermine everyone else's prosperity, by whatever means are handy.

Also convenient to Trump's electoral ambitious to give Trump a Chinese punching bag.

I'm not letting go of this, am convinced there's some global maneuvering where it suits multiple powerful players to promote the conflict.
