Deep hurt in the midst of tragedy?

Theresa May has been lamblasted for her response to the fire tragedy.

When people are hurt and damaged they lash out. Of course they do but has the media fed this in respect of Theresa May. Okay, she isn't a "personality". She isn't good at showing emotional empathy but does this mean she is not a good PM? At this time she has a lot on her plate. Negotiations with the DUP, writing the Queen's speech and that damned Brexit starts on Monday. I have always voted Labour but this time I changed. What is apparent is that there are many people who need to be brought to account, and these include people from different parties.People have to be reinstated in decent, safe accommodation, given money and material things. Then there is the huge emotional support which it needed not just now but for years to come. Our hearts bleed but does it help to go on bashing the PM who is juggling one disaster after another? By all means criticise but give her breathing room to deal with things.

So either those victims aren't worthy of TM, or she's more important than the Queen. What other explanation is there?

I can't help but think she's bought on a lot of the problems herself particularly wrt the queens speech and dup.

But yes, I think showing humanity is a pretty damn important part of being a pm.

And in fact she did go, so clearly could spare the time to.

But didn't speak to any - or very few - of the victims.

I'd imagine security concerns were legit though considering that when he visited even Sadiq Khan had to be surrounded by police and someone still managed to chuck a bottle at him.

It probably doesn't help to go on bashing her, but these disasters have been somewhat of her own making - starting from throwing her hat into the ring, post Brexit ref fiasco, and continuing by squandering DC's majority when she didn't have to.

If she doesn't have th basic social skills to talk to and empathise with ordinary people she shouldn't be PM. Perhaps she has a conscience and couldn't face them, but I think she was just afraid.

Thanks for your thoughtful opinions. In all honesty I cannot disagree with them. However, I do feel sorry for her despite her mistakes.

She is probably more of a target than either the Queen or Corbyn.

As for going down within 24 hours when things were still happening that is just stupid. Every one of the media attractors should stay away until the emergency services invite them.

She is the leader of our country and as such the buck should stop with her. She put us through an unnecessary and expensive election. She failed to deal appropriately with a terrible disaster. She seems incapable of relating to the people she has been elected to govern I have nothing against her as a person but I don't think she has the leadership skills to govern our country.

The lacking emotional empathy thing is just another reason among many reasons why she is a crap PM.

I think you can feel sorry for someone and also appreciate they make bad decisions.

Did you not see her speech outside Downing Street the day after the election? It was dreadful, didn't even acknowledge the election result.
She had to be forced by her party to go on TV later and apologise to the MPs who had lost their jobs and to admit that lessons needed to be learned from the outcome.

Surely any decent politician would have known what speech needed to be made at that point? It was gobsmackingly awful.
