War, nhs budget, tax dodgeing and more

Im confused as to why children are living in poverty because the country cant afford to pay more child support

But we always have money for bombs and war

Im curious why we can raise minimum wage

But we have millions worth of tax dodged

Why is the nhs suffering and not been given enough in budgets

When we pay for nukes when we have not chance to survive nuclear war. Or we pay so much to the royal who have enough land to make a fortune

Im not convinced by anyone but I dont understand their budgeting?

we can raise minimum wage Because the judgement has been taken that business can bear the burden.

we have millions worth of tax dodged Some people prefer to benefit themselves rather than their neighbor, it has always been thus, I think its part of human nature.

the NHS suffering and not been given enough in budgets Because people get older, the NHS keeps them alive using more and more expensive treatments to do so and then they get even older... Its a vicious circle. The country is in debt and just doesn't have the money to fund unlimited health care. Nor will people vote to pay more tax to do it.

we pay for nukes when we have not chance to survive nuclear war To protect us and everyone in NATO from the bad guys who also have nuclear weapons.

we pay so much to the royal who have enough land to make a fortune Because the Royal family are a net benefit to the economy in the region of £26 billion

why children are living in poverty - Because quite often the problem isn't the lack of social security from the government but other underlying factors that money alone can't solve. Eg. parents making poor decisions. Drug abuse etc. Feckless parents who just don't care.

we always have money for bombs and war - We don't really have any money for a 'proper' war. The relatively few 'wars' we've fought in have really been along side the US and we're a tiny cog in the grand scale of things. If we had another Falklands or more, I seriously doubt we could sustain a war.

we have millions worth of tax dodged - HMRC estimate about £2.7b is lost through tax avoidance and £4.4b in evasion. Firstly avoidance is a grey area. One man's tax avoidance is another man's sensible tax planning. Evasion is clearer.

Whilst the amounts seem eye watering, we should put them into context. Even IF HMRC estimates are accurate, with a total tax revenue of over £566billion. The 'loss' is around 1%. It's not as big a problem as the press like to make out

Why is NHS suffering - Like Anon said. Because people are getting older and living longer. We've a larger population yet funding hasn't increased much. Longer term the blunt truth is we will at some point need to ration. A free NHS in it's current form is unsustainable. But no politician dares admit that or they'd be voted out tomorrow.

As a country we need a cross party committee to look deeply at the long term sustainability and funding. What services should no longer be free. How we encourage more people to go private whilst still paying taxes to support those who cannot afford private care.

We pay for nukes - Mutually assured destruction. The theory is that if a country knows we can annihilate them, they won't dare attack us. That's why North Korea is desperate for them. So they can be sure the USA can't attack.
