Does Corbyn think the party is more important than the electorate?

Just that really. He and his supporters keep banging on about the mandate he has from the party.

They seem to miss the key point that the electorate didn't give him (or labour) a mandate.

Am still waiting for a genuine, electable and sane opposition to the tories.

He seems to be asserting leadership ability to me. He's cleaned out a clique of right wingers, and given Hilary Benn an internal ultimatum.

The Non-whip re Syria bombing was to promote democracy and test the waters. It is now clear who was intent to undermine JC and who was allied within PLP.

JC knows what to do. "Unelectable". Hardly. There's massive support, outside the establishment press brigade.

Shadow Cabinet now majority female, interestingly.

'It is now clear who was intent to undermine JC and who was allied within PLP.'

Good point.

I like Emily Thornberry. She is no mug and is no walkover, she is a fighter and can compete with the Tories.

Ophelia, I don't know. Don't get me wrong I like what he's doing and I voted for him. It's more that he's not a classic bombastic leadership type, assured of his abilities and so on. He's a decent man who has a quiet style of leadership.

A democratic leadership style is admittedly one rarely seen in a political party leader, but is a valid leadership style.

Autocratic leadership (Blair, Thatcher) is more common but we need to move away from this for humanity's sake.

Democratic leaders promote discussion, debate, analysis which are all currently missing in politics.

JC knows what he is up against and would never have sacked Hilary Benn off. He is trying to avoid a total shit storm.

Mooching on mumsnet, came across this! I know it's a dead thread but I'm quite impressed at how prophetic some of your opinions turned out to be. Esp the comments on Clive Lewis, Jess Phillips and Hilary Benn. 😳 Anyway, as you were!
