Not nearly enough Boris bikes in good weather!

It is almost impossible to hire a Boris bike anywhere near Waterloo, for instance. It wasn't so bad in the winter, but at the first hint of sunshine it becomes utterly impossible!

This is probably extremely dangerous territory, but I think part of the solution is to increase the price. The Boris bikes are a victim of their own success - and £45 for annual membership is simply too cheap.

Or they could just get more bikes, now that they know the scheme's a success. It doesn't make sense to make it a rich person's privilege.

Presumably it pays for itself so why not increase the scope.

I think they can monitor how many bikes are available in a particular place and try to move some in when supplies run low/out. DH tells me he has seen lorries shifting them around a bit. Obviously demand was even higher than expected at Waterloo.
The answer is to build more bike racks. Why put prices up - and price people out? It's meant to be for everyone and to get more people out on a bike rather than a car/bus/motorbike etc.
I expect they will simply build in more bike racks. I hear they are already planning to extend the scheme further in south London.
