....for president who has ha, probably, the worst intray ever, he has done remarkably well;

i)averted economic depression;
ii)having to deal with two "can't win wars one of which he voted against;
iii)introduced minimum level of health care;
iv)some level of banking reform (work in progress as global reform required).

All in less than two years...even after one year the press was talking as though he had failed cos he hadn't re-invented capitalism! Remember that Bush blew all the US surplus on two wars and tax cuts for the better off. I didn't hear people saying that he was the same sort of failure after two years..in fact they reelected him!! SOmething not right about how Obama is seen as the anti-Christ and how easily fault is found...arguably he has already done more in two years than Clinton did in two terms......

Obama's discovering that it's easier to campaign than to govern. He has a relatively intellectual, consider-all-the-views type of management style in a country that much prefers over-simplified right/wrong solutions. (Hence why George W 'Don't confuse me with the facts' Bush was so popular for so long). The simpler promises he came into office with e.g. closing Guantanamo, he's finding are much more complex to deliver. His charming rhetoric is getting lost as he struggles to explain the way forward. And those at the bottom of the social pile who supported him in their millions clearly thought life would improve much quicker than it is doing

Above all, he has the fundamental problem is that everything he wants to do involves using tax-dollars. And the hatred of paying tax runs very deep in the American psyche. Those that are just waiting for him to fail sense blood and will take advantage of any dip in confidence. That's politics.

Fundamentally, as he can't walk on water, he is doomed to fail.

Expectations were so monumentally high when he came to office, he was never going to be able to deliver on them.

All politicians promise "change". I am not sure why Obama is so burdened by the media as having to achieve 100* Clinton to be deemed successful. I am very suspicious of that notion as it was less than a year before they started to say that he is falling short when the fact was that he was steadying a very very toxic ship...
