Lets try the Politicians Failed Policies Tax

How to get out of the deficit. If we are going along the lines of a graduate tax how about a Politicians Failed Policies tax. it could have a retrograde as well as a future application. Any politician and advisors would be taxed for the rest of their working lives if they are responsible for a costly and failed policy. The politician/advisor would obviously sign up when the policy is implemented to avoid buck passing.
the retrogrograde part would have to be thought through a bit, but think of what we might recoup from Blair.

No that is another really stupid idea. Lets encourage politicians to blindly carry on maintaining that something works, not only to save face, but also to their financial benefit.

Here's a better idea - lets fine any politicain or journalist who uses the phrase 'u-turn', and insist that legislation comes with explicit goals and targets, so that when something doesn't work, we can stop it and try something else QUICKLY - not wait until it can be done without embarassing someone.
