I am being baptised this sunday and am really nervous

It's not the baptism itself but the giving of testimony, especially as there will be children present. There's some stuff in my past I'm ashamed of. Also I hate talking in front of people especially about myself ((cringes in the corner)). I know I shouldn't be anxious, has anyone been through the same? I should also point out that I'm not overly fond of water

I don't happen to know any 'good' Christians and if anybody told me they were a 'good' Christian I would run a mile.

Funny, that's what my friend said when I talked to her today

I always remember a turning point for a friend who felt like you was that she kept imagining Christianity as a beautiful garden which she wasn't good enough to enter, unlike her Christian friends. Out of interest I asked her who she could see in there. After a couple of minutes of being gobsmacked she realised that actually no-one was in there - no-one was qualified!
Written down it's a bit flat but it was a turning point for her. She finally realised that being good enough had nothing to do with any of it!

A testimony is one thing but don't feel you have to say more than you wish in order to satisfy other people's curiosity. Your "stuff in your past" is between you and God, and anyone else you choose to share it with. You can always talk about things a bit more generally if you prefer.

That's so lovely Oxocube. I would certainly concur with everyone saying it's not about being good, Christ came to save the lost and frankly that's me
